• Bird baths & bowls are an excellent way to attract birds into our yards and to help our birds & wildlife on hot days.
They drink from it, they bath in it & sometimes p**p in it too 💩🤭
• Whilst a great addition for both wildlife & the garden, contaminated, stagnated water and algae build-up can make birdbaths a breeding ground for diseases & parasites that are detrimental to our birds.
• Trichomoniasis, salmonellosis, avian pox, conjunctivitis & beak and feather disease are just a few things that can spread via birdbaths & bowls, and can be fatal to our birdies.
• If the birdbath does not have continuous, running water, cleaning it out once a day will help stop the spread of some of these diseases & give more life to our beautiful Aussie wildlife! 🦜🕊️

Another extreme weather warning day today folks, it’s going to be hot, Hot, HOT 🥵🔥
If it’s too hot to trot, be heat smart & stay heat safe!

Please be heat safe for both your pets & yourself.
Some cool tips for the scorching days & for the rest of the summer season👇🏼

✅ Provide plenty of cool water 💦 around the house.
✅ Provide plenty of shaded areas for your pet if they are always outside/are an outside pet. Consider letting them inside when temperatures go above 20 degrees.
✅ Turn on fans for circulation or air conditioning at a reasonably cool temperature to keep pets cool.
✅ Play with & walk your pets early in the mornings or late evenings when temperatures have cooled down & dropped to avoid injuries, heat exhaustion, heat strokes & dehydration.
✅ Learn & recognise the signs of heat stroke & dehydration in your pet.
✅ Provide splash baths or cooling mats around for them.
❌ Never leave your pet in a car on a hot day.
❌ Avoid walking pets on hot days, their poor paws 🐾 WILL get burnt from the hot ground & they CAN & WILL get sunburnt. Always check the ground temperature before taking them out for walks on hot days.
❌ Don’t shave their fur to the skin, always leave a shave of fur on if clipping for the summer season.

Pro-tip: Put out bowls of water for wildlife & your garden friends.
