One of the most important grooming appointments your dog will ever have is their first one 🐶

Ideally puppies should have their first introduction around 12–16 weeks, and then continue with regular visits for their first few appointments.

The goal isn't a perfect haircut.

The goal is helping them feel comfortable with:

• sounds of clippers
• scissors around their face
• handling their paws
• being in a grooming environment

The more positive those early experiences are, the more confident and relaxed they often become as adults.

Building trust early can make a huge difference for life 🐾"

Winter is one of the biggest times of year I see matting build up 🐶❄️

Why?

Because coats become:
• thicker
• denser
• harder to brush through properly

Add in:
• jackets
• harnesses
• wet weather
• more time indoors

…and knots can form quickly underneath the coat.

A coat can look brushed on the surface… but still be matted underneath 🐶

This is especially common with curly and oodle coats.

The areas I see matting most:
• inside legs
• tail
• behind ears
• under collars and harnesses

The key is brushing slowly in sections and making sure the brush reaches all the way through the coat.

A few extra minutes of proper brushing can make a huge difference between grooms 🐾
