A chilly start to the days but a lovely weekend showing the babies, with all gaining points and Maple picking up 2 lovely Junior in group on Saturday.

I had a wonderful conversation with one of the judges about the breed, one who’s done his research, continuing and willing to learn. It’s always nice to go under these judges as they are few and far between, with limited SWD’s in the ring and a rare breed it’s harder for the judges to learn without doing their own research.

What’s interesting is now a few judges have mentioned either the girls sporting titles or they would be good in sports. The dogs sports is where my heart is as it’s far less political and as long as the dog completes its task it doesn’t matter the breed or who you are.

It’s so nice to see Latte continuing to improve and love the ring and it shows with her starting to gain more challenge’s over Maple and BOB but to top it off checking the dogzonline rising star point score Maple is sitting at 15th and Latte at 44 Australia wide in the gundog group!! Super proud these girls especially being my first litter of SWD.

Many thanks to McKenzie for continuing to show Finn and let me help when she’s working, to Simone for again helping with the everyone and to Lucy for being on standby. To the judges and stewards and the committee for putting on the shows

The next few months showing will be limited with the dogs sports starting up again next weekend lure coursing for the adults and sprint dog for the babies can’t wait!!

Last night the girls attended our first Rally competition for the year, all 3 girls worked super well.

Mishka had an amazing night placing in all 6 classes and best of all gained the pass needed to finish off her Rally Grand Championship. Mishka finished her Grand Championship in style with a score of 99/100 she worked super well enjoying being in the sports ring again.

Kira loved the cooler weather a little too much and super happy to be working again. She was a little speedy which lost us a few points and some silly mistakes from both of us took some more but still gained 6 passes and 3 3rd placings.

Mia wasn’t quite feeling it but it was great, as she works a little slower so I was able to learn the new signs without stress. She gained 4 passed and I withdrew her from the last 2 classes.

Rally is like obedience but following signs. It’s a bit easier than obedience as you are allowed to speak to your dog during the course. There are 4 levels, Novice, Advanced, Excellent and Masters. To gain the Masters title you need to gain 7 passes with scored 85/100 and above after the Masters title you can then start gaining passes for the Rally Championship which you need another 10 passes with scores of 90/100 and above, then the Grand Championship where you need to gain another 10 passes with scores of 95/100 and above.
