🐱 Patient Spotlight 🎣

Bagera the Domestic Short Hair cat recently presented to our team after getting a fish hook lodged through his jaw.

Following assessment, a plan was made to remove the hook safely under general anaesthetic due to the location of the injury and the revision of further tissue damage if removed while awake.

The procedure went smoothly, the hook was successfully removed, and Bagera recovered well from his anaesthetic before being discharged home later the same day 🏡.

Thankfully, he has gone on to make a very quick recovery.

Fish hooks can cause significant injury due to the barb and should not be forcibly removed at home. Prompt veterinary assessment is recommended to minimise trauma and reduce the risk of complications 🎣.

Dental disease is one of the most common health issues we see in dogs — and unfortunately, many pets hide discomfort very well. Bad breath, yellow or brown plaque build-up, red gums, difficulty chewing, or dropping food can all be signs that your dog may need dental attention.
