The definition of Synergy is "the interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects." At Synergy Dog Training our goal is to create and build teamwork and trust between owners and their dogs. Synergy Dog Training is run by Nicole Leyden and is based in Brisbane, QLD Australia. Nicole is a qualified dog trainer with a certificate 3 in Canine behaviour and training from the National Dog Trainers Federation. Nicole has been training her own dogs for more than 15 years and is an experienced obedience, agility and show competitor. Nicole is also a qualified obedience judge and a registered breeder of Border Collies with the ANKC (Australian National Kennel Club) and Dogs Queensland. Nicole has been trained by and continues to be mentored by Steve Courtney from K9 Pro in Sydney. She uses their behaviour modification techniques and Training In Drive system in her training programs. Nicole has been working with Steve for more than 10 years and has had great success using K9 Pro's methods with her own dogs and with clients. Here at Synergy Dog Training, our methods are balanced and tailored to each individual dog - there is no "One-size-fits-all". Nicole has a wide variety of techniques, tools and skills that she uses and teaches to achieve the desired outcome. Nicole can help you with the following and more:
- problem behaviours such as leash pulling, barking, jumping up, failing to come on command
- general obedience skills
- barking complaints
- raising your new puppy the right way
- obedience competition coaching
- getting a better performance from your show dog

We had a small class yesterday for Life Skills so we took the opportunity to spend some time in play around each other. This can be a real challenge but also really helps dogs learn that you are far more interesting and rewarding than other dogs!

Just two silly dogs playing silly games!

We love helping dogs learn how to relate to and interact with other dogs in appropriate ways. For some dogs that may involve play like these two and for others it's more about impulse control, calmness and being settled near other dogs.

Thursday's Life Skills class had an additional challenge to work with! 🤣

🐓🐓 Chickens! 🐓🐓

Our flock of chooks refused to return to their coop (I'm a dog trainer not a chicken trainer unfortunately!) and they chose to continue grazing while the class got under way!

This was an excellent challenge for the group and they all handled it well!

Hiccup and Mira who are both with us for boarding enjoyed a walk together. Both of these dogs are highly excitable which meant walking together without turning it into play was a real challenge for them!
