Welcome Izzy!

This sweet Ridge back mix started training with us last week. She's very nervous of all the things and displays reactive behaviours because of her fear. We are going to help her feel brave, confident and ready to explore the world!

What's the first thing you should teach your puppy?

When I'm raising a puppy, the first things I teach are:

- their name
- come
- the yes marker

That's it. I'll spend weeks just focusing n these 3 things before I even think about much else.

These 3 things will get your pup's attention, ensure they can come when called and you can tell them what you like via the marker word.

Don't try to teach 100s of things right away, get a few things really awesome then add more.

What did you get up to over the weekend?

We are puppy raising this little cutie for the next week, so spent the weekend dealing with crate training, toilet training and socialisation...

Don't let his cute looks fool you, he's insanely vocal and it has not been an enjoyable few days!!! 🤣

Murphy the Portuguese Water Dog has a brag to share! He is human aggressive and we've been working on his manners and behaviour around strangers for the last few months through our Life Skills For Dogs program in both private training and group classes.

We received this update earlier this week and couldn't be prouder of how far he has come! His owners have worked hard for this and are now starting to see the results of that hard work!

Training dogs like this isn't easy and can be long and draining but getting updates like this is why we do it!

Do you have a challenging dog? We'd love to help! Get in touch today!

Somedays this job really is just cuddling puppies!

We had the pleasure of assessing a litter of Labrador puppies this week to select a puppy for a client.

Puppy selection and thoughtful consideration of temperament will set you up for a far easier time when raising and training a puppy!

We see so many clients with dogs that really don't suit their needs or lifestyle which causes frustration and problems when trying to train them! Many of these problems could be avoided by proper breed and smart puppy selection!

If you are considering a puppy or even a rescue dog we can help with temperament evaluations, behaviour assessments or puppy selection sessions!

How was your weekend?

Tictac the Kelpie had a couple of days with us and tried valiantly (and failed) to make friends with our girls Zip and Fizz.

She did enjoy the freedom to explore and stretch her legs on our property despite no one wanting to play with her!

We love offering group classes!

These classes are only for clients who have finished a private training program with us. They are designed to help further your dog's skills in close proximity to other dogs.

All of these handlers worked hard to get here and every one of them started out with some form of reactivity or poor manners and now look at them all!

We aim to challenge each team at an appropriate level and through regular attendance they develop better skills around other dogs.

How would your dog go with this challenge?

Rusty is a graduate of our puppy raising program and recently started in group classes. Look how awesome he's doing!!
