❄️ Winter Care Tips for Rabbits ❄️

Rabbits feel the cold too! As temperatures drop, here are a few simple ways to keep your bunny happy, healthy & cosy this winter:

• Keep housing dry, warm & out of wind/rain
• Add extra bedding like hay or blankets for warmth
• Make sure water bottles don’t freeze overnight
• Provide plenty of hay — it helps keep rabbits warm from the inside out
• Keep up daily exercise & enrichment, even on chilly days
• Watch for signs of illness like reduced appetite, lethargy or sneezing

Did you know? Sudden temperature changes can be stressful for rabbits, so avoid bringing outdoor rabbits inside for short periods unless necessary.

If you’re worried your rabbit may be feeling under the weather this winter, our team is here to help 🐇💙

🐱 Is your cat in pain?

Cats are masters at hiding discomfort, so the signs can be very subtle. Here are a few things to watch for at home 👀

• Sleeping more or hiding away
• Jumping less or avoiding heights
• Changes in appetite or drinking
• Grooming less… or over-grooming one area
• Becoming grumpy, withdrawn or clingy
• Difficulty getting into the litter tray
• Limping or moving stiffly
• Growling, hissing or not wanting to be touched

Think your cat may be uncomfortable? Come see us!

🩺 Blood testing for senior pets 🐾

As our pets get older, routine blood testing becomes an important part of keeping them happy and healthy 💙

Recently, handsome Alfie visited us for his dental procedure with Dr Amy!
Before his anaesthetic, Dr Amy performed pre-anaesthetic blood testing to make sure everything looked healthy and safe for his procedure.

These tests help us check important organ function, including:

🧪 Kidneys: Making sure they’re filtering waste properly
🧪 Liver: Checking how the liver is functioning and processing medications
🧪 Thyroid: Screening for hormone imbalances, especially in senior pets
🧪 Glucose: Monitoring blood sugar levels for signs of diabetes or other concerns

Many health conditions can develop quietly as pets age, sometimes before we notice symptoms at home. Blood testing helps us pick up changes early so we can provide the best care possible 🐾

Alfie was an absolute superstar for his blood test and dental procedure ⭐😻

✂️ Snip snip! Yesterday was desexing day for handsome boys Bear & Ferg 🐾💙

The boys spent the day with Dr Roisin and were absolute superstars from start to finish.

Desexing is an important part of your pet’s health care journey, it can help reduce unwanted behaviours, prevent certain health issues later in life, and of course helps prevent unwanted litters 🐶

Bear & Ferg handled their procedures like champs and are now back home resting up with plenty of treats, cuddles, and well-earned TLC 🩺✨
We can’t wait to see these sweet boys back for their post-op cuddles soon!
