Those puppy-dog eyes can make saying no pretty difficult. 🐶

But treats can add up quickly when you combine training rewards, dental chews, snacks, and all those little extras throughout the day.

A simple way to keep things in balance is to break training treats into smaller pieces. Your dog still gets the reward, without quite as many extra calories.

Our handy guide gives you a simple idea of how treats can fit into your dog’s everyday diet.

If you’re unsure what is appropriate for your dog, particularly if they are overweight, very small, highly active, or have a health condition, speak with our team for advice.

Is your dog suddenly visiting the water bowl much more often? 💧🐶
There can be perfectly normal reasons for increased thirst, from warmer weather and extra exercise to a change in diet.

But when your dog is consistently drinking more than usual, particularly if they are also urinating more often, it can sometimes be an early clue that something else is going on.

Our latest article covers:
💧How much water dogs generally need
💧Common reasons for increased thirst
💧Other changes worth watching for
💧How to measure your dog's water intake over 24 hours
💧When it is time to arrange a vet check

And one important reminder: never restrict your dog's access to water simply because they seem to be drinking too much.

Behind every consultation, procedure, emergency and difficult goodbye is a veterinary team caring for both pets and the people who love them. 💛

Working in veterinary medicine can bring incredibly rewarding moments, but it can also be emotionally demanding.

With R U OK? Day on Thursday, 10 September, we’re taking a moment to recognise the vets, nurses and support teams who continue to show up every day with compassion, skill and care.

A little kindness can make a bigger difference than we sometimes realise, whether that means showing patience during a busy day, thanking your veterinary team, or simply checking in with someone around you.

R U OK? Day is also a reminder that asking “Are you OK?” shouldn’t be limited to one day of the year.

Today, we’re sending our appreciation to veterinary teams everywhere. 💛🐾

Is your pet starting to get a little itchier as spring approaches? 🌸🐶🐱
Seasonal allergies don't always look the same in pets as they do in people.

Instead of sneezing and watery eyes, you may notice:
🐾 Paw licking or chewing
🐾 Frequent scratching
🐾 Red or irritated skin
🐾 Head shaking or itchy ears
🐾 Repeated skin or ear problems

Pollen, grasses, dust, and other environmental allergens can all contribute.

If you've noticed some of these changes before as the weather warms up, our Springtime Pet Allergies Guide is worth another read.

It includes signs to look out for, simple ways to reduce allergens around the home, and advice on when to speak with your vet.

Read it here: https://vist.ly/5hhn4

Share this with another pet owner who might be preparing for allergy season too.

If your pet is already scratching or uncomfortable, call our team on (03) 9596 4804.

Looking for an easy way to entertain your dog on a cold and wet day? Try hide-and-seek! 🐾

Have your dog wait while you hide behind a door or in another room. Call them once you are ready, then celebrate when they track you down.

Searching engages their natural instincts, provides mental stimulation, and helps strengthen the bond you share.

Could your dog find you? Let us know their favourite rainy-day game.

This quiet little gesture can be a sign that they feel calm, secure and comfortable around you. It is sometimes described as a cat’s way of showing affection without making a sound.

Next time your cat is relaxing nearby, slowly close and reopen your eyes. They may return the gesture with a slow blink of their own.

Tag someone who would love to receive a little “cat kiss” today.
