Gavin the 3 week old calf was in great hands with Dr Dom and Dr Sam, who performed surgery to repair an umbilical hernia. Because of the size and complexity, the procedure was done under general anaesthetic on the surgery table.

Umbilical hernia occur when the umbilical ring fails to close after birth, leaving an opening in the abdominal wall. This can allow fat or intestines to protrude, potentially affecting blood supply and digestion. When the hernia cannot be reduced manually, surgical intervention is required.

Gavin was the perfect patient and came through with flying colours - by the afternoon, he was back with mum enjoying a well-earned drink!

Winnie stopped by for her annual check-up and vaccinations today 🐾💉 She was such a brave girl through her blood test and needles—handled it like a champ!

She even paid very close attention while Dr Dom explained her next steps (such a clever pup 🐶).

We had the most delightful puppy cuddles today!

Last month, Dr Dom, together with Dr Harry from our Beaudesert clinic, travelled down to Grafton to attend the EVDS Level 1 Essentials of Equine Dentistry course 🎓🐴

Over 6 full days, they expanded their skills through a combination of hands-on workshops and in-depth theory sessions. They covered everything from oral examinations and ageing, to performance floating, and extractions of wolf teeth and diseased teeth - plus managing periodontal disease and so much more 🦷✨

Now back in the clinic, Dr Dom and Dr Harry are already applying their new skills and enjoying helping our clients keep their horses comfortable, healthy, and performing at their best.
