Toxin binders: how they help and why we stock two, not one..
We're not vets or nutritionists at Saddle Up Boonah, but after watching these two products work in real situations locally, we trust them enough to talk about them.
If your horse has come up with greasy heel that won't budge, or a skin reaction after grazing, mycotoxins in our local grasses are often the hidden cause - it looks like an allergy, but it's toxin exposure. That's the pattern we've seen clear up with Kohnke's Tox Target, a broad-spectrum binder that mops up a wide range of toxins from pasture, hay and grain while supporting the liver as it works.
For everyday, ongoing protection, we run our own horses on Balanced Equine Mycosorb A+ which is a gentle, yeast-based (not clay) binder that doesn't strip minerals from the diet, so it suits long-term daily feeding.
Different jobs, same idea - bind the toxins and allow them to be expelled in the manure rather than being absorbed by the horse.
