Breeder values vary and it’s a long term game. Every breeder has their own goals, and that’s ok 👍
⚜️We consider each individual mare and decide what would we like to improve.
⚜️Then a search begins for a stallion that will add positives to the identified points for that specific mare (I have a short list of stallions, each season for each mare).
⚜️We try to visit & inspect the stallions we use, character & temperament should be assessed in person. We investigate & research their s***m quality along with bloodlines, the qualities of their siblings and foals they have produced.
⚜️We don’t stick to any specific breed. We have crossed Thoroughbred, KWPN, Oldenburg, Hannovarian, Holstein, GRP and Australian Riding Pony. We consider the characteristics and genetics of each individual stallion and what that stallion can offer to our mare, along with our client’s requirements.
⚜️We don’t breed huge numbers of foals and we don’t just use trendy stallions that are “in fashion” simply because it is marketable in the short term. We aim to have our human/horse partnerships successful well into the future.
We breed >5 foals each season allowing us to have a hands on approach and give each foal the handling and personal attention they require.
⚜️We know our mares, we record all their cycles, breeding patterns, medical treatments and of course what they produce..... Mares matter!
Genetics are very complex, what will work in your favour this breed, may not necessarily work using the same cross next season.... but ticking all the boxes will increase the % of success. 👌
