Despite a wet and windy day, yesterday's Vic Straight Trackers ran some cracking times to see them go through to Sunday’s Final.
Blink and Miss(Josh Formosa) had the run of the day with the blistering time of 18.84 in heat 2 outrunning race favourite Smart as you (Michael Ryan)19.01.
CUMULATE (John Barbara) took out heat 1 with a run of 18.96 followed by Evil Eye(Steve Kaltsis) 19.10.

We're set for a sensational final this Friday, who will represent the Big V in the National Final?

🐾 WEDNESDAY WISDOM -WEEK 2 🐾

We sat down with Victorian young gun Josh Formosa to talk greyhounds, training and the lessons he has learned along the way before finishing with a quick round of rapid-fire questions.

1. What is the best greyhound you have ever trained, and what made them special?

Josh: “The best greyhound I’ve trained is Blink And Miss. What makes him special is that, at such a young age and with limited experience, he’s already doing things I’ve personally never had a dog do before.”

2. What is the best advice you would give someone starting out in greyhound racing?

Josh: “Try to speak with and learn from as many people as possible—but make sure they’re the right people.”

3. What is one quality every successful trainer should have?

Josh: “An open mind and the ability to always put the animal first.”

4. What is the biggest thing greyhounds have taught you?

Josh: “Greyhound racing is exactly like everyday life—you have your ups and downs. You just have to put the blinkers on, back yourself and keep going.”

5. How has greyhound racing changed your life?

Josh: “I’ve gone from handling winners for the old man as a kid, to training a few dogs for a bit of fun, and now it’s become my full-time job. It’s pretty amazing, and I honestly don’t know where I would be without greyhound racing.”

“The entire Dailly family. They’re great people and know exactly what they’re doing.”

🍀 Any race-day superstitions?

“I’m very superstitious it comes from my footy background. On big nights I’ll wear certain socks/shorts/hats and I’ll always put a leather lead and collar on my dog on race day but it has to have red padding on the inside😂”

🏟️ Favourite racetrack?

“Bendigo. The track surface is always in great condition.”

🐕 Best greyhound you’ve ever seen?

“Cumbria Jack.”

💎🏆 Last night we had 12 runners competing in multiple group listed finals.

We started the night with Manchester Trev winning the maiden short course final. Which was rightly deserved after getting to the final from box 8 both weeks prior!

Next we had Blink and Miss take out the Maiden Sprinter final, and boy did he look good 😏
6 runners in the Maiden sprinter final & managed to secure a first four! 🥇🥈🥉🏅

After that, Retaliation competed in the Rookie Sprinter Final, who didn’t quite get the W , but he did run a brilliant second , missing out by a whisker! 🥈

Vista Weird & Zelda Covilha who battled it out to quinella the Champion Distance Final, with it being only their second time over the trip! 🥇🥈

Our boy conceivable, better known as Russel, jagged 3rd in the Champion Sprinter Final against some pretty hot 🔥 company! 🥉

Last but absolutely not least, we had Upended , formally known as ChloMoney, compete in the Princess Final, and run a cracking second! This girl deserves some bloody credit, she shows up week in, week out, giving it her all & improving with every start! 👸 🥈

That’s 12 starters with 9 of them running top 3
And the others that didn’t run top 3 were in the race we had 6 dogs in. All in group listed races.
Not a bad effort if I do say so myself 🏆💎
