Even when someone gives the animal away for
R0, the responsibility that comes with that little life is priceless.

When you take an animal, YOU become responsible for its entire life. Not a month not
2 years its entire life !

You are responsible for:

❤️ Food every day
❤️ Vaccinations and keeping vaccination records
❤️ Deworming
❤️ Sterilisation
❤️ Veterinary care when it is sick or injured
❤️ Providing shelter, safety and love
❤️ And most importantly — keeping that animal when it grows up.

AND THEN REALITY THEY GROW UP
A puppy does not stay a puppy.
A kitten does not stay a tiny kitten.
When they grow up, they are still YOUR responsibility.

Please don't take a free puppy today because it is cute, and then decide a few months later that you want another “new” puppy.

And please think carefully before taking a “free to a good home” animal.

Why is this animal being given away for free?
Is the current home truly unable to keep it?
Is it vaccinated?
Is it healthy?
Has it been dewormed?
Has it been sterilised or will you take responsibility for doing so?

If you receive a puppy or kitten and are told it has been vaccinated, ask for the vaccination certificate.

A proper vaccination record should show the vaccine information/sticker and date. Don't simply take someone's word for it.

An inadequately vaccinated puppy can be exposed to devastating diseases such as parvovirus, and young kittens can become seriously ill from infectious diseases too.

🐾🚨 URGENT APPEAL FOR LITTLE PAWS BIG HEARTS 🚨🐾

Today, we’re asking our amazing community to stand together for a fellow rescue organisation that is facing an overwhelming veterinary crisis.

Little Paws Big Hearts works tirelessly to help not only the animals in their care, but also countless sick, injured and abandoned animals across six surrounding townships—often where no other rescue assistance is available.

Sadly, after weeks of emergency cases, their veterinary account has reached R43,000 and has now been frozen. This means they can no longer get lifesaving treatment for animals in desperate need.

Right now, a dog named Ratatouille urgently needs veterinary care after suffering what appears to be a serious injury. Without access to their veterinary account, getting him the help he needs has become incredibly difficult.
