Spirit, a ginger cat with a spark in her eyes, slipped out during her dad’s move to a new home, her cage left open in the rush. Her fur parents’ hearts sank as they searched tirelessly near their old place, hoping she was nearby, but the trail was cold.
Enter K9 Loki, his sharp-nose exactly what was needed. Loki’s handler joined forces with Spirit’s parents, and his nose led them straight to the dog park near the new house. Spirit had been there, weaving her way between nearby properties, always just out of reach. Loki’s team didn’t stop at tracking—they helped plaster the neighbourhood with posters, each one a plea for Spirit’s return, and rallied locals to spread the word.
3 Weeks passed, then, a call came from a woman six blocks over: Spirit was lounging in her yard, unfazed and healthy. When Dad scooped her up, relief washed over him like a warm wave. Spirit nudged his hand, purring softly, as if to say she’d just been on a little adventure. Now she’s back home, curled up in her favourite spot, content and safe, thanks to Loki’s nose and a neighbourhood that came together.
