AFMA is spending time with the University of Pretoria’s fourth-year Animal Science students today for an interactive session on the animal feed industry and the regulatory environment they may encounter in their future careers.

Bonita Cilliers, AFMA’s Technical and Regulatory Advisor, and Cilé-Mari Bredenkamp, AFMA’s Technical Intern, are introducing the students to AFMA, Act 36 of 1947 and the practical side of feed regulation with a few fun quizzes to test their knowledge along the way! 😊

🔬 Advancing feed quality through science and data!

AFMA was proud to participate in Anton Paar Southern Africa’s Feed Quality, Nutrition & Performance Workshop, held in Midrand on 19 August 2026.

Bonita Cilliers, AFMA’s Technical & Regulatory Advisor, presented on how science, reliable testing, long-term data and industry collaboration can strengthen feed integrity and support AFMA’s commitment to safe feed for safe food.

She also shared insights from AFMA’s monitoring programmes for Salmonella, mycotoxins, dioxins and PCBs showing how collective data can be transformed into valuable industry intelligence.

Thank you to Anton Paar Southern Africa for an informative and engaging workshop that brought science and advanced analytical technology into practice.
