Today we are feeling very discouraged... with under 2 weeks to go (1 week before our closing date), we only have 4 people confirmed & 5 tentatives 🥺😭💔 for our "Sip, Dot & Do Good" event planned for 30th August.

Someone mentioned to us, that a possibility may be that people want to attend, but do not have funds to make payment by 23rd (with most people's payday being on 25th).

Sadly if our numbers don't increase by next Saturday, we will have to consider canceling our event (which we were very excited for, lots of planning & arrangements made & products already bought) 😿😿

Last Thursday we were alerted of these 4 tiny kittens at the mall (yes again!). There were conflicting reports as to whether there was a mommy around or not (3rd party vs security that had the kittens) & due to their size, 2 hours later we had to make the call to collect the kittens. Upon collection, security advised us they knew nothing about a mommy & the kittens had been found by the garbage in the receiving area.

Thankfully we did uplift them as they were only 4-5 days old at most (needing urgent feeding & unable to regulate their own body temperatures), with 2 still having their umbilical cords on. Thank you to Courtney for taking them in.

Unfortunately last Sunday early hours the one did not want to feed well, although he was hungry & his urine was brown in colour, so off to the vet he went. His urine was tested & there was bacteria in his urine. Using an insulin syringe (as he was so small), he was given antibiotic & anti-inflammatory injections. Thankfully he was already improved by Monday & seems to be fully recovered now.

Sadly, within a week we have racked up R1,712 worth of unexpected vet bills from our mall kittens 🙈 (Tori R799 & this little guy R913). If anyone is able to make any contribution towards their vet bills, it would be humbly appreciated.

Just as one life left our care... 4 new little lives arrived. We were contacted this morning by a Distribution Centre to please assist with these 4 tinies (approx 7-10 days old).

They had come in on a pallet from a shop & due to the number of trucks arriving simultaneously, they could not pinpoint from which shop they came. Our heart aches for the mommy left behind, who'd be searching for her missing babies, but unfortunately we cannot do anything about that 😖.

All we can do is now care for these 4 little orphans (who are probably missing their feline mommy just as much), but in time will learn that their foster meowmy is everything to them & the amount of dedication, love & care she has for them already 😻😻😻😻

*** SAD UPDATE : Tori ***

This morning little Tori did not want to eat her food & she had not pooped since her arrival (despite having being dewormed & the huge amount of pellets, mousse & milk she had consumed since arriving).

Thus we were obviously concerned & we thought perhaps she had a blockage (plastic or bones perhaps) in her gut, so off to the vet Tori went.

Sadly, it was worse. Tori had a very low temperature of just 34 (despite being on a hot water bottle) & had fluid (vith viscosities) in her abdomen 😕. She was diagnosed with suspected wet FIP (only post mortem could definitively diagnose). Whilst there is a very expensive treatment, our vet (even if money was freely available), suggested against it & indicated that in the condition Tori was, her odds of survival was only 10% 😿. So we had to make the tough call & put her down, to set her free from pain 💔🌈. It was the kindest option, as it is unlikely she would have lasted the day in her condition 😭.

This is the tough side of rescue, saving a life by choosing to end it & realizing as much as we want to, we can't save them all 💔😭💔😭. She at least she knew love, comfort, warmth & yummy food in her short time with us. Tori had learnt to trust & was even purring when we stroked her from last night 💜. Thank you also to Candice for being there with her as she crossed the rainbow bridge 🌈

This morning we got a call from the mall to assist with a kitten they had found rummaging around the garbage. Thank you to Candice for collecting & bringing her to us.

As you can see (from 1st pic) she has full blown snuffles & thankfully we had a space to quarantine her from others as it is highly contagious. We cleaned all the muck from her eyes (thankfully no damage to eyes), applied ophthalmic ointment to her eyes & starred her on course of antibiotics.

Before we even got a chance to clean her eyes, she smelt the kibble & navigated to the bowl by smell. Once she'd finished eating & we cleaned her eyes, we gave her some mousse which she eagerly devoured & licked the bowl spotless *pics 2 & 3) before draping herself over the hot water bottle (pic 4) for a nap 💤.

The funny thing was that when her eyes were mucky & we were cleaning them, she fid not hiss. Now that she can see us, she hisses 🤣

Please send healing prayers for this little girl, who has been named Tori 🌸
