The 9th Day is a rescue, rehabilitation & rehoming centre for abused, neglected and stray animals. We are a registered NPC based in Krugersdorp, Johannesburg South Africa founded by Charmaine Booysens in January 2015. We rescue the forgotten, heal the broken and love the unloved. All our animals get vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and sterilized. The 9th Day is pro-life, which means the only

time an animal will be send to heaven is if a veterinarian determines there is no way to save him/her. WE ARE THE BRIDGE OF WHAT WAS AND WHAT CAN BE. WE ARE THEIR PATHWAY TO A SECOND CHANGE. Whilst educating the poorer communities in and around Krugersdorp we also assist with sterilizations and vet care for their pets. We are
currently the only rescue centre in Krugersdorp and Roodepoort that focus on stray animals and offer assistance to the less fortunate. Together WE are The 9th Day. A few months ago, a wonderful group of volunteers helped us put canvas over the kennels to protect our dogs from the cold and rain. Unfortunately, none of us realised the amount of water that would build up during the massive storms we recently had. Under the pressure of the rain, almost all the roof structures collapsed ๐Ÿ˜ง

We had no choice but to urgently buy materials and make temporary repairs to keep our dogs safe - using money we simply do not have......

At the same time, the economy is becoming tighter and tighter, and we are drowning trying to keep up with:

๐Ÿพ Food for all our animals
๐Ÿพ Cleaning materials
๐Ÿพ Rent
๐Ÿพ Staff salaries
๐Ÿพ Petrol
๐Ÿพ Daily operational costs

We are now at a point where we unfortunately cannot assist with any more animals, no matter how urgent the situation is. And the heartbreaking reality is - if one of OUR own animals now has a medical emergency, we honestly do not know what we will do ๐Ÿ’”

Our vets have never turned us away, but owing them almost R100 000 and still expecting them to continue helping us is simply unfair.

We also only have ๐Ž๐๐„ vehicle while trying to operate between ๐“๐–๐Ž sites: ๐Ÿ“ Our rented kennels in Krugersdorp and our farm just outside Krugersdorp.

Trying to manage emergencies, feed runs, vet trips and daily operations between the two properties has become almost impossible.

These two little Miniature Pinschers are currently in foster care, but unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we urgently need to find them a home together. Putting these tiny dogs in kennels during winter would simply be cruel ๐Ÿ’”

They deserve a warm home where they will be loved, safe and welcomed as part of the family ๐Ÿซถ

Hansie & Heidi are incredibly bonded and will need to be adopted together. To help keep them together, we will waive one adoption fee ๐Ÿ™
