After a very dry summer we suddenly had an above average cloudburst on Monday. 84mm in about 4hours. We were dealing with some run-off and lots of mud😆
We lost some chicks and the hens egg production dipped because of the storms. We are very thankful for the water and the veld has exploded into every shade of green imaginable!

Our veggie garden is thriving with much lower pest loads because of our chickens. We cover seedlings and young plants to protect them until they are more robust.

Our chickens love to scratch and forage in the areas where our rabbit tractors were. They definitely help to lower fly populations and spread the rabbit manure as well.

We hate waste. Everything gets recycled as far as possible. We have a thriving compost system and worm farm. Chickens are great at recycling! You can feed them almost anything!
