Be honest… how many blocks can you tick? 👀🐾

If your camera roll is basically a shrine to your pet, you cancel plans to get home to them, and they somehow have a better wardrobe than you… congratulations. You may officially be that pet parent. 😂

We want to know:
How many of these apply to YOU? ⬇️

Bonus points if your pet has their own social media account AND gets birthday presents. 🎂

Tag a fellow pet parent who would probably tick every single box 🐶🐱

💙 200 blankets. Countless lives touched.

A huge thank you to our incredible Fourways Vet Hospital and Paw Ways community for supporting our annual Winter Blanket Drive.

Over the past month, our clients purchased and donated an amazing 200 blankets, helping provide warmth and comfort to animals in need during the cold winter months.

We're so grateful to have received this heartfelt thank you from Woodrock Animal Rescue, one of the organisations benefiting from the campaign. The blankets donated through this initiative are also being shared with Rainbow Nation Rescue, Kitty and Puppy Haven, and Sandton SPCA.

This achievement is a true reflection of the kindness, compassion, and generosity of our community. Thank you for helping us make a difference, one blanket at a time. 🐾❄️

One of the biggest myths in veterinary medicine?
“If my pet isn’t limping, they’re fine.” 👀

In reality, many pets with joint pain due to Arthritis show signs long before limping ever starts.

Sometimes it looks like:
• Sleeping more
• Avoiding stairs
• Hesitating before jumping
• Slowing down on walks
• Taking longer to stand up after resting

Because these changes happen gradually, they are often brushed off as “normal ageing.”

But subtle changes in mobility can be your pet’s first way of telling you they are uncomfortable 🦴🐾

This reel may change the way you look at your pet’s daily behaviour forever.

Have you noticed any of these subtle signs in your pet lately? ⬇️

🐾 Meet the Team: Dr Farai Munjere 🩺

Meet Dr Farai Munjere, Head of the After-Hours Department at Fourways Vet Hospital.

With more than 23 years of experience in the veterinary industry, Dr Farai leads the team responsible for providing prompt and coordinated care during some of our patients' most critical moments.

Dr Farai has a special interest in initial emergency clinical work, consultations, patient work-ups, stabilisation, and early patient management before handing cases over to our Generalist and Specialist teams for further case management. He particularly enjoys the initial client liaison, setting a clear plan in motion, and ensuring patients receive prompt and coordinated care from the outset.

What Dr Farai enjoys most about his role is the unpredictability of after-hours work, where a wide variety of cases need to be managed and coordinated within resource constraints. He thrives in a fast-paced environment, where quick decision-making is essential to manage the many cases that can arrive within a short period of time. He particularly enjoys handling both medical and surgical emergencies and coordinating the work-up, stabilisation, and treatment of these cases.

As Head of Department, he values the opportunity to improve operational efficiency, promote teamwork within his department, coordinate with other teams across the practice, and contribute towards developing systems that support both patient care and staff performance. He is also passionate about encouraging the ongoing personal and professional development of his team members.

Outside of work, Dr Farai shares his home with two 12-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback sisters and two cats. 🐶🐶🐱🐱

He enjoys documentaries and podcasts on a wide range of topics, particularly those related to people, workplace behaviour, workplace psychology, and workflow management. He also enjoys reading about leadership and organisational dynamics. In his spare time, he follows sports closely, especially football! ⚽

His favourite part about working at Fourways Vet Hospital?

Balancing excellent patient care, customer care, and staff wellbeing. I strongly believe that staff wellbeing is essential for achieving high standards of patient and client care. I also value the practice's willingness to continuously evaluate systems and identify areas for improvement so that we can operate more efficiently, support our teams effectively, and continue striving towards overall excellence as a practice."

Please join us in showing Dr Farai some appreciation in the comments! 👇💙

🏆 Kennel Assistant of the Season: Antonius Nare 🏆

For the past 18 years, Antonius has been a dedicated member of the Fourways Vet Hospital family, serving as one of our Kennel Assistants with commitment, compassion, and a genuine love for our patients.
