This sweet girl was dropped off at the vet, she is around 5 years old, already spayed, and is the sweetest, purring little lady. ๐Ÿฉท

Unfortunately, the vet cannot keep her over the weekend, so if no foster comes forward, she will have to be taken to the SPCA.

Meet ๐๐ข๐š๐ฆ๐ก (pronounced Neev), a tiny ginger kitten rescued from a feral colony. Instead of enjoying kittenhood, sheโ€™s fighting an incredibly rare medical battle.

At just ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ ๐จ๐ฅ๐, Niamh has developed ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž ๐›๐ฅ๐š๐๐๐ž๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐ฅ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ ๐œ๐ฆ ๐ž๐š๐œ๐ก - something extraordinarily unusual in a kitten this young.

Her bladder is severely inflamed, the bladder wall is markedly thickened, and testing has revealed a significant bacterial infection. Sheโ€™s been passing blood in her urine and has even managed to pass one small stone on her own.

That stone has been sent for analysis. The results may help us understand ๐ฐ๐ก๐ฒ ๐š ๐ค๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐  ๐ก๐š๐ฌ ๐๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ž๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐œ๐ก ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ๐ ๐ž ๐›๐ฅ๐š๐๐๐ž๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ, and whether thereโ€™s an underlying condition that also needs treatment.

For now, sheโ€™s on antibiotics, and a ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐œ๐ซ๐ข๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ž๐ญ in the hope the stones will dissolve. Sadly, because of their size, surgery is becoming the most likely outcome.

Weโ€™ve been quoted ๐‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿ,๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ for surgery alone. Niamh will also need follow-up scans in two weeks to monitor her progress and determine the next steps.

Through no fault of their own, Lewis and Cashew have sadly been returned to our care because their family found life had simply become too busy and are once we again searching for a family to call their own.
