💔 They finally found safety. Please help us keep it that way.

Every animal at Pigs ‘n’ Paws has already lost something.

They’ve lost homes. Families. Safety. Trust.

Today, more than 300 rescued animals depend on us for food, shelter, veterinary care and the love they deserve.

But keeping that promise is becoming harder every month.

It costs between R80 000 and R100 000 each month to care for the sanctuary’s animals. Our average monthly income is only around R45 000.

We receive no government funding.

Without more monthly support, the future of the sanctuary becomes increasingly uncertain, and hundreds of rescued animals depend on these gates staying open.

Esther has appointed herself Camp Interior Designer.❤️

Who needs expensive décor when you have a feed bag and a little imagination? 😄

Whether she’s decorating, playing, or inventing her own version of piggy interior design, Esther reminds us that happiness is often found in the simplest things.

Watching moments like these is only possible because of kind-hearted people who choose to stand beside our sanctuary every single month.

Our dream is simple:

Right now, 132 incredible people are helping us provide food, shelter, medical care and lifelong safety to more than 300 rescued animals. We are deeply grateful for every one of them, but we still have a long way to go before we can create the sustainable monthly support the sanctuary needs.

There’s something so special about the quiet sweetness of moments like this, two friends, side by side, simply enjoying each other’s company. A gentle reminder that life doesn’t always have to be loud or rushed.

Sometimes the best things are found in the small wins, a peaceful moment, a kind word, a shared silence, or time spent with those who make your heart feel safe.

Gentle giants with the softest hearts 🐄💚

Meet Jerry and Molly B, two of the beautiful cows at our sanctuary. This little video captures one of those simple, peaceful moments, enjoying fresh grass and soaking up the quiet. And of course, Jerry couldn’t resist coming over to say hello with that handsome face of his.

Did you know? Cows are deeply social animals. They form strong friendships, remember kindness, and can recognise the humans they trust. They often stay close to their chosen companions and can become stressed when separated from them.

Jerry and Molly B have formed a beautiful bond, and it’s such a privilege to witness their friendship grow.

Rescued animals are so much more than their past. Given love, safety and space, they show us just how deeply they can feel.

Meet Bluey 🐷❤️

One of our precious golden oldies at Pigs ’n’ Paws.

Bluey shares her camp with Lucy, Marmalade, Wiggypop and Masher, her fellow senior piggies. As piggies grow older, they become more vulnerable and often do best in calmer spaces with other seniors, where they can eat peacefully and get the extra care they need.

But today, while sharing these sweet moments, we also want to share something honest.

It costs around R50,000 every month to cover the sanctuary’s basic needs, including food, fuel, salaries and medication.

Right now, we are bringing in under R30,000 a month, which leaves us with a big shortfall every single month.

While we are deeply grateful for every donation that we receive and what we truly need is monthly sustainability.

That’s why our Hearts of Hope ❤️ campaign matters so much.

Our goal is to have 500 people giving from R200 a month. Right now, we have 130 monthly Hearts of Hope helping us carry this load.

That means we still have a long way to go.

Meet Smiley.

One of our beloved golden oldies at Pigs ’n’ Paws.

And true to his name, Smiley has the sweetest habit, he smiles when he sees you.

Not because life has always been easy.

But because he knows he is safe, loved, and cared for.

Smiley is one of our older sanctuary residents, and as he gets older, his needs change too.

To keep him healthy and comfortable, he needs special senior dog food, costing around R1000 per month.

That may seem like a simple thing, but for a sanctuary caring for over 300 rescued animals, every extra need adds up.

That’s why we’re looking for a special Heart of Hope sponsor for Smiley.

Tigger is one of our special needs piggies at Pigs ’n’ Paws, and like so many of our sanctuary residents, he reminds us every day how important safe spaces like this are.

Today we also want to take a moment to thank the people who help make this possible.

To our Hearts of Hope supporters: thank you.

Your monthly support helps keep food in bowls, grass in the camps, staff caring for the animals, and so much more. It truly keeps the sanctuary going.

We have recently noticed that some of our monthly donations via PayFast and PayPal have stopped, mostly due to expired bank cards.

We did send out emails, but we know emails sometimes land in spam folders or get missed.

So this is just a gentle reminder:
