Breeder said wait. The brush begged to differ.

Can we start taking grooming advice from the professionals?
I’m not here to slate breeders or vets or dogs walkers but the reality is, this isn’t their speciality and it often ends in a mess like this.

Matting is painful for a dog and to have to have your first professional groom as a de matting session is not going to help your pup desensitise to grooming.

Regular schedules need to be made as soon as they are fully vaccinated. Why? Well:

•It helps keep the coat in a good condition making grooming sessions shorter and pain free.
• to train a dog, you need repetition.
• It will help the dog and groomer form a bond which create a trusting relationship between the two.

If you are unsure, contact your groomer of choice for advice on the best schedule for you and your pup 🐶

We have made it easier for each of our store locations to have access to our nightcare branch.

Monday to Friday we have a FREE taxi service that transports your baby to our nightcare home away from home.

For seapoint, drop off at the store is from 7:30 am to 12pm.
For Claremont, drop off at the store is from 7:30 am to 2pm.

Weekends there will be NO taxi service. Pick up and drop off will at our nightcare store in constantiaberg 🏡

Sometimes the most beautiful moments happen after the storm. 🌧️✨

When life forces us to slow down, we begin to notice what truly matters; community, kindness, connection, and finding joy in the simplest things… like a puddle and a happy dog running through it. 🐾💦

And when the sun finally comes out, it brings a sense of hope with it. ☀️

Our hearts are with everyone affected by the storm. We pray that those facing loss or difficulty feel surrounded by support, love, and strong community, and that rebuilding happens quickly with minimal lasting impact.

We’ve missed seeing your pups these past few days, and getting to watch them play freely again has brought such a smile to our faces. There’s something special about seeing dogs remind us how to embrace joy, even after the rain. 🤍

Happy 12th birthday to the girl who started it all 🤍

This photo takes me right back to the very beginning Nala with my son, when Pampered Paws was just a small dream running out of my in-laws’ outbuilding.

Nala has been there through every stage of this journey. The highs, the stress, the growth - all of it. She’s more than just my dog, she’s been a constant, and she’ll always hold such a special place in my heart.
What many people don’t realise is how much she’s given to other dogs too. She’s helped me build trust with nervous pups, improved off-leash recall with others, and at nightcare, so many dogs would naturally gravitate toward her. They’d lie next to her to settle, almost like they just knew she was safe.

She’s a little older now, a bit more fragile, so she’s not as involved with the dogs as she used to be but her presence is still felt in such a big way.
Nala, you really are the heart behind it all ❤️

Don’t you just want to shout Hallelujah 🙌🏼 when you find a place you can comfortably leave your dogs while you are away!

One lady this week said it’s harder to leave her dogs than her kids and if I’m honest, I agree it does feel harder! But why is that? Well, it takes a particular person to be able to handle dogs well and at Pampered Paws we have found those people.

Leaving your dog’s coat to grow out without regular grooming might seem harmless, but it can quickly lead to painful matting and skin issues. Before you know it, what could’ve been a simple tidy-up turns into a long, uncomfortable grooming session… or even a vet visit if it’s really severe.
If keeping up with grooming at home feels like too much, that’s completely okay, that’s what we’re here for 💛 Regular appointments are key to keeping your pup comfortable, whether that’s monthly for longer coats or every 6–8 weeks for a shorter, more manageable style.
And let’s be real… nobody wants to deal with di*********es 💩 A consistent grooming routine keeps your dog clean, fresh, and feeling their best.
If maintenance is tricky, consider going shorter and adding a cute jumper in cooler weather… just don’t skip those grooms!
