The Name “Kennel Cough” Can Be Misleading

Despite the name, canine infectious respiratory disease is not something dogs only catch in kennels. Dogs may be exposed anywhere they mix closely, including parks, training groups, shows, daycare, grooming settings and veterinary waiting areas.

The infections can spread through cough and sneeze droplets, direct contact or contaminated objects. The useful question is not “Was my dog in a kennel?” but “Has my dog recently mixed with other dogs?”

Ken Candido

BKC always gives us the best service and our dogs are always well looked after. I will always recommend them to anyone going away who wants their fur family member well accommodated.

GO AWAY WITH CONFIDENCE

Holiday plans feel easier when you know your pet has attentive care and a clear routine. At BKC Pet, every pet receives an arrival wellbeing check, followed by daily visual wellbeing monitoring during one-on-one playtime.

🐾 Dogs can enjoy their own grassy outdoor play camps with shade, splash pools and constant access to water. Pets from different families never share kennels, helping us maintain an individual approach throughout each stay.

A Quick Tick Check Makes a Difference

Outdoor adventures are wonderful, but they are also a good reason for a careful tick check. Run your hands over your dog's coat and pay special attention to the ears, head, neck, paws and spaces between the toes.

Tick risk can extend beyond a single season, so ask your veterinarian which preventative routine suits your pet and local conditions. If you are unsure how to remove a tick, get professional guidance first.

Your Boarding Day Handover Checklist

Drop-off day goes so much smoother when we know the little things about your pet. 🐾 Here's what to have ready when you arrive: your pet's food with exact meal quantities and times, any medication clearly labelled with dosage and timing, and temperament notes (scared of thunder?

hates the hosepipe? mad about tennis balls?).

Also give us two authorised emergency contacts plus your vet's details, so there is never a delay if a decision needs to be made. Why the detail matters: our kennels are used only for sleeping and eating, which means we can monitor exactly how much your pet is eating each day.

The rest of the time they are in their own grassy camp with shade, a splash pool and fresh water, and kennels are never shared between families. Cats have their own quiet, secure cattery.

What's the one quirk we'd need to know about your pet? Tell us in the comments.

🐾 Dogs enjoy individual grassy outdoor play camps with shade, splash pools and constant access to water, while cats have a secure, private and quiet cattery. Pets from different families are never housed together.
