Criminals often use toxic substances such as Aldicarb, aka Two -step, to immobilise animals to gain entry to properties. The effect of which is heart breaking.
Perpetrators often conceal the toxins in food and once the animal ingests the substance the results could be fatal.
To protect your pets, try your best to supervise them outdoors, avoid unknown food or treats, and be aware of any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood.
Aldicarb / Two-step:
This was originally used as a form of insect control within the agricultural space but has since been banned in South Africa. Aldicarb is black in colour and often resembles poppy seeds. If your pet has ingested this poison, you may start seeing symptoms almost immediately. It is extremely important to get your pet to your nearest Vet as soon as possible. Please do not induce vomiting at home. Quick action can save your pets' life.
Symptoms of Aldicarb / Two-step
• Drooling,
• Tremors,
• Seizures,
• Vomiting,
• Diarrhea (bloody),
• Weakness,
• Trouble breathing,
• Paralysis.
