Meet Joe!!

Joe is a 7.5 month old, male Victorian Bulldog - this hunk is sure to brighten your days! Joe is a lovable teenage bulldog who just needs a family who can be consistent with his routine and training. Joe does great with other dogs and loves meeting new people. He wants nothing more than to be by your side and have a few awesome toys to occupy his mind.

Joe would thrive in a home where he gets plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He loves going for walks, playing fetch, and will do anything for a yummy treat! Joe will make a wonderful addition to any family who is willing to give him the love and structure he needs. Adopting Joe will bring endless love and joy into your life.

Meet Amara! Amara is a 5.5 year old, 62 pound, female German Shepherd.
This beautiful shepherd lady came to us back in February and we found out she was heartworm positive during her intake exam. After months of crate rest and treatment, Amara is finally heartworm free! We are so thrilled for Amara and are excited to see her finally get the chance to run and play like the happy dog she deserves to be. She is such a sweet and semi active lady, and we know that she will make a wonderful addition to any family.

The cost of heartworm prevention is low when compared to the cost of having to treat your dog for heartworms. Heartworm treatment is undoubtedly expensive. It is also uncomfortable for the dog, has significant side effects, and requires prolonged activity restriction. Did you know that heartworm prevention is pain free and costs $20-35 a month? Treatment for heartworms takes a long time, isn't pain or risk free, and typically costs $1000+. Without treatment, heartworms are fatal. If you have a dog who isn't current on prevention, please make an appointment with your vet to get them on the right path asap!

Meet Happy!

This lovely little havanese lady is 6 years old and a petite 9.8lbs. When Happy arrived to our rescue, our doctors quickly realized she was pregnant. Both of her puppies, Joy and Glee, have been adopted into amazing homes. Happy is still enjoying her foster home but is wondering when it will be her turn at furrever?

Happy is ssooo sweet and affectionate, she loves nothing more than to be around her people. She is great with children and other dogs, and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal and loving pet. Happy is house trained and crate trained, she does know how to hold her potty but is still learning how to let her humans know when she needs to go out.

Happy does have grade 2 of 4 luxating patellas but she is not experiencing any lameness at this time. If her adopter notices any changes in her mobility or behavior, they will need to consult with their vet for further guidance.

All of our adoption success stories are special and remind us why we work so hard to help animals in need. Tonight we have an extra special adoption to share with you: GOLIATH!!

After eight weeks of tender care in a foster home, recovering from starvation and healing from wounds inflicted by another dog, Goliath has found his forever family. With hearts as vast as his bravery, they've opened their home to him, offering love and safety for a lifetime. Today, Goliath's journey transforms from one of struggle to one of triumph, as he embarks on a new chapter filled with boundless love, joy, and endless tail wags. Here's to Goliath, the beacon of hope, proving that love knows no bounds.

The other pup in the adoption photo is Hammer, who also happens to be TLPP Alumi!

Meet Al! This adorable little beagle mix came to us from animal control about 6 weeks ago with a broken leg. He is just a baby at about 4.5 months old. Our friends at the Animal Surgery Center did have to surgically repair his leg in order to save it and give him the best outcome possible.

Al is a sweet and playful pup who loves to cuddle and play with toys. He is great with other dogs and loves meeting new people. Despite his injury, Al has a lot of energy and loves going for walks and exploring the outdoors.

Al is still on crate rest and is currently going through physical therapy to help strengthen his leg and improve his mobility. He has made great progress so far and is expected to make a full recovery.

Al does have just two more weeks of crate rest and leash walking restrictions. After that, the surgeon would like to do follow up x-rays to make before giving him the green light on being a wild man. This is included in his adoption so he adopter would need to be local and able to bring him back for the final check up.

Al has already spent almost half of his young life living in a shelter setting. Could you be the perfect home to help him finish recovering so he can enjoy all the perks of puppyhood?

🌟 Breed Spotlight: German Shepherd 🌟
🐾 Origin: Hailing from Germany in the late 1800s, the German Shepherd was initially developed for herding and guarding sheep. They would act as a living wall, keeping stock in a certain area. Today, they're renowned worldwide for their intelligence and versatility in roles from service, protection and high level sport to search and rescue.
🐾 Temperament: Known for their intelligence, loyalty and courage, German Shepherds tend to bond deeply with their family. They are, however, guardian breed dogs, so they can be very wary or aggressive towards strangers (dog or human) if not socialized fully as puppies.
🐾 Intelligence & Training: Highly intelligent and eager to learn, German Shepherds excel in almost any task set before them. This intelligence, paired with their strong work ethic, has made them a staple in many professional canine roles. If looking for a German Shepherd as a pet, look for a good show line breeder, who is breeding their pups for family life. Dogs that have been bred to work (working line) will be much higher energy and significantly mouthier, with a more intense drive than their show line counterparts.
🐾 Exercise Needs: This active breed thrives with regular exercise and mental stimulation. Whether it's a game of fetch, agility training, protection training, trick training or a long walk, they're up for the challenge! Without enough exercise, this breed will become destructive and find their own ways to amuse themselves.

Meet Adelaide! This adorable pocket sized pitty is ready to steal your heart and your bed! Adelaide prefers to go by Addie and she is living her best life in her foster home. She is about 2 years old and weighs roughly 35lbs. Addie is equal parts of play and snuggle. She does great with cats and dogs of all sizes.

Addie loves to play with toys, go for car rides, and cuddle up with her humans at the end of the day. She is a very sweet and affectionate pup who just wants to be loved. Addie is fully house and crate trained. She can be shy and uncertain when meeting new people but once she settles in, she will give you her whole heart. When she is uncomfortable or gets spooked, her goal is to get away. She has never shown any aggression but you can tell she has had a rough past.

Overall, Addie is a sweet and gentle soul who just needs time. With patience and understanding, she will become a loyal and loving companion. It's clear that she deserves a second chance at a happy and stable life, and with the right care and support, she will thrive.

Happy National Rescue Dog Day!!

We would like to use this opportunity to feature our playful and loving Geraldine! Geraldine is quickly approaching one year of age and is a petite 36lbs. This beautiful lady has been with us since April 5th. She came to us after being picked up as a stray by animal control. When Geraldine first arrived, she was very shy and reserved. She has since blossomed and enjoys expressing her true puppy self.

Geraldine has her wild moments and will spring around with zoomies but she also loves cuddles and belly rubs. She is young and very playful, she enjoys running around the yard with her toys and canine pals during playgroup. Geraldine is great with other dogs and would do well in a home with another active furry friend to play with.

She is still learning basic commands and leash manners, but she is very food motivated and eager to please. Geraldine would thrive in a home that can provide her with plenty of love, patience, and positive reinforcement.

We would love nothing more than to see her celebrate her first birthday in a forever home!

We would like to officially introduce you to the most resilient boy, Goliath. We believe he is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix and is roughly two years of age. Goliath has a heart of gold and absolutely loves everyone he meets. He is currently living with several other canine and feline friends. Goliath is crate trained, potty trained, and a great leash walker. In his photos, he is wearing a "halo harness", to protect his eyes and face from bumping into things when he is out and about. We would like to extend a special Thank You to one of our dedicated volunteers for donating this much needed item so he could thrive.

In just five short weeks, Goliath has gone from a fragile body riddled with parasites and infection to a strong boy who is ready to conquer the world. We will never know if his condition was a result of intentional neglect or if he was a stray for so long, that his body started to give up the fight. Before making his way to the shelter, it was clear another dog attacked him and he was very lucky to survive. Upon intake, Goliath was extremely imaciated at just 39 pounds, we feared for many nights that he would pass away in his sleep. We have also questioned his ability to see, and if he would ever regain vision. This past week, the ophthalmologist confirmed Goliath to be totally blind. His retinas are completely detached and have been torn for some time. He also has a small cataract developing in each eye. Thankfully, none of this is causing any pain or discomfort. It is possible that overtime the cataracts may progress, which could potentially lead to complications in the future.

But now, thanks to the dedication and care of his foster home and veterinarians, Goliath is a new dog. His wounds have healed, his parasites are gone, and his spirit has been revived. He now walks with confidence, his head held high, and wagging tail! With the right care and support, even the most broken of souls can be healed and transformed. He reminds us all that every animal deserves a second chance, no matter their past.

Goliath is now ready to find his forever home, where he can live out the rest of his days in comfort and happiness. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt him will be getting a loyal and loving companion who will always be grateful for the second chance he was given.

Goliath's journey is a reminder to us all to never give up hope, to always show kindness and compassion, and to believe in the power of transformation. Thank you, Goliath, for showing us the true meaning of resilience and strength.

52 days...52 days of sitting, waiting, hoping. 52 days of living in a kennel with regular daily walks and play time in hopes of getting the mental and physical stimulation they crave.

That's the reality for Sonny and Cher. These beautiful Anatolian Shepherds (possibly mixes) were found as strays back in March and never reclaimed. They are large, fluffy, and so so loving. We do believe they are siblings but they are not bonded so they do not have to be adopted together. Littermate syndrome is real and these beauties seem to be happier in their own kennels vs sharing one.

Anatolian Shepherds are known for their loyalty, protectiveness, and intelligence. They make excellent guard dogs and are great with children and other animals when properly socialized. They require a secure yard with plenty of space to run and play.

They can climb chain link fences but there are so many alternatives to keeping them home and keeping them safe. Having a privacy fence, using a long lead, and staying outside with them so they can soak in your love are all simple solutions. With proper exercise, the desire to climb is drastically reduced.

Sonny and Cher are both about 2 years old and have been fully vetting by our doctors. They both LOVE to ride in the car and go for walks. They are both great leash walkers but do get excited and pull a bit when they see something of interest. They aren't aggressive by any means, just very curious and social.
