The hearts of the Yuman people are amazing. To the families that adopted the 4 dogs on the at risk list, we have free goodies for you to include tags so please come take advantage of that.

Humane Society of Yuma still needs more help. Please if you can, check out these pups and kitties and see if one can fit in your lives. They are so deserving.

Good afternoon Yuma, you showed up yesterday and SAVED lives!!! We adopted out 11 dogs yesterday and returned 7 more to their owners. THANK YOU! But...this morning we came in and still only have 5 large dog kennels open. So we are asking that you continue this support and continue to adopt and come in to pick up your lost pet. We will work with you on fees and we cannot save lives without you. HSOY's goal going forward is to not have to make a list weekly of "At-Risk" animals because we hopefully won't need to euthanize for space. As we need to and as we are filling up our kennels with little to no space on the horizon, then we will reach out to the community. Our overall goal is to be transparent and let you all know exactly what is happening with the animals here in the shelter. Yuma is an amazing place and we know that with your help we can continue to save more and more lives. But please do not give up! WE need you all to still come adopt and pick up your pets right away. What is filling our kennels are stray dogs whose owners don't come for them.

By the way, 4 of the dogs who were on the "At-Risk" list were adopted yesterday and since so many others were adopted we can continue to work to save the lives of the 4 who are still on the list. Day to day we are re-evaluating the space within the shelter and we will hold on to those 4 for as long as we possibly can.

All of our adoptable animals can be seen here. https://hsoyuma.com/adopt.html

We will provide a bag of food and a treat and an aluminum engraved tag and some other goodies to anyone who adopts one of these at risk dogs. Bring in your adoption certificate and we will help you get a start for giving them a chance at life in a loving home.

Good afternoon Yuma, here at the Humane Society we try to save as many lives as possible day in and day out. Unfortunately, due to space constraints of our shelter, we sometimes have to make difficult decisions. We strive to be “No-Kill” but with limited space and constant intakes there is only so much we can do. No Kill is only a benchmark. The benchmark is defined by a 90% live release rate. At HSOY we have strived to never euthanize healthy and adoptable animals regardless of our No Kill status or live release rate. In an effort to be transparent and give these animals a chance at a new life, we will be posting weekly a list of shelter pets who are at the highest risk of being humanely euthanized solely because of a lack of space. We are hoping this will give them additional exposure for potential adopters. Please help us by sharing this post so we can give these pets the chance they deserve.

These dogs are at risk of being euthanized to make room for the constant intake of new dogs. If you have space, please take a look at this crew.

Good afternoon Yuma, we are always looking for fosters especially as we are gearing up for kitten season! Not only does it get animals out of the stressful shelter environment, we gain valuable information about the animal's personality when it's in a foster home. We provide the food, you supply the love! https://hsoyuma.com/fostering-a-pet.html
