🤣🐾 FUNNY PUPPIES AND DAYLIGHT SAVINGS! ⏰🌙

I JUST WITNESSED SOMETHING RARER THAN SEEING THE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN FLORIDA … EIGHT PUPPIES COMPLETELY FROZEN FOR 60 SECONDS! 😳🤣

Not one puppy moved. Not one puppy barked. Not one puppy tackled another puppy.

FOR AN ENTIRE MINUTE!

I KNOW!!! I almost called Guinness World Records! 🤣🤣🤣

Let me explain …

Tonight, I took the entire litter of eight puppies outside for their very first experience with the early darkness of daylight saving time.

Now, these puppies are VERY accustomed to going outside at this time of evening. But tonight was different.

It was REALLY, REALLY DARK!

And because apparently raising eight puppies isn’t entertaining enough … I decided to make things even more interesting.

I TURNED OFF ALL THE OUTSIDE FLOODLIGHTS! 🤣

Then I opened the kennel …

AND THEY LAUNCHED! 🚀🐾

Eight puppies came flying out like they’d been shot out of a cannon!

Approximately 1,000,000 miles per hour!

They made it about five yards out the door when …

EVERY. SINGLE. PUPPY. FROZE. 😳

At exactly the same time!

Then, in what may be the most coordinated thing this litter has EVER accomplished …

ALL EIGHT TURNED AROUND AND STARED AT ME! 👀🤣

And they just stood there.

And stared.

And stared some more.

For nearly an ENTIRE MINUTE!

I could practically hear their little brains processing …

“EXCUSE ME, LADY … WHO TURNED OFF THE WORLD?!” 😳

“WHERE DID THE YARD GO?!”

“WE WERE JUST HERE YESTERDAY!”

“DOES THIS MEAN THE GRASS IS GONE TOO?!”

And my personal favorite …

“SHE’S STANDING RIGHT THERE … AND SHE’S NOT FIXING IT!” 🙄🤣

For 60 glorious seconds, there was no wrestling, no chasing leaves, no stealing somebody else’s stick, no investigating mysterious smells, and absolutely NO puppy chaos.

Just eight little statues contemplating the sudden disappearance of civilization.

I THINK I FOUND THE PAUSE BUTTON ON PUPPIES! 🤣🤣🤣

Unfortunately, the moment their little brains finished rebooting … we were right back to our regularly scheduled programming.

CAPTURE THE FLAG … BLINDFOLDED! 🌙🐾

Except there are eight flags, they all have legs, they’re running in eight different directions, and nobody remembers why we went outside in the first place.

One is chasing a leaf.

Two are wrestling.

Three have discovered something fascinating that I absolutely do NOT want identified by taste.

One is barking at the darkness.

And the eighth?

Already pooped somewhere I haven’t stepped … YET! 💩😳🤣

Oh, and did I mention that THREE of the puppies decided to explore the kiddie pools?!

Because OBVIOUSLY the kiddie pools they have been playing in all day must be COMPLETELY DIFFERENT after dark! 🙄🤣

Apparently, daylight saving time also turns ordinary kiddie pools into mysterious bodies of water requiring immediate scientific investigation.

THANK GOODNESS I WORE MY MUCK BOOTS! 🤣💦

Because apparently tonight’s potty break also included an unscheduled midnight expedition to the puppy water park!

And THAT, my friends, is the real joy of daylight saving time when you’re raising puppies!

Everybody else is celebrating getting an extra hour of sleep.

Meanwhile, I’m taking puppies outside before the sun even considers getting out of bed … and approximately 947 times after the sun has called it quits for the day.

And just when I finally get everybody back inside …

Somebody suddenly remembers they had to p*e.

OF COURSE YOU DID! 🙄🤣

But hey … at least we gained an extra hour!

An extra hour of WHAT, exactly?!

Darkness? Puppy counting? Questioning my life choices? 🤣

I’m seriously considering buying night-vision goggles.

Or maybe just turning those floodlights off again and enjoying another 60 seconds of complete puppy silence! 😂

Happy Daylight Savings from Ruff Ruff Ranch™!

Where the puppies don’t understand clocks, the humans don’t get extra sleep, and apparently turning off the lights is the closest thing we’ve ever found to a universal puppy OFF switch! 🐾🤣❤️

🐾🤣 EIGHT PUPPIES… ONE CUBE… ZERO TEAMWORK! 🤣🐾

Today’s lesson was supposed to be about teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving.

Apparently, nobody told the puppies. 🤦‍♀️😂

Eight puppies discovered ONE cube-shaped toy.

All eight decided it needed to move.

Unfortunately, all eight had VERY different opinions about WHERE it should go. 🤣

One pushed left.
One pulled right.
Two tried going backward.
Three were convinced THEIR direction was the correct direction.
And the eighth? Pretty sure that one was just there to file complaints with management. 😂

The mission was simple…

Move the cube ONE INCH in ANY direction and keep it there for MORE THAN THREE SECONDS without somebody dragging it back!

You would think eight little brains and 32 paws could accomplish this.

You would be wrong. 🤣

Every time they made progress, another puppy decided the entire operation needed to go in the opposite direction.

It was like watching eight toddlers attempt to move a couch through a doorway… except every toddler thought they were the supervisor. 🤦‍♀️🐾

They had determination.
They had enthusiasm.
They had absolutely NO organizational structure.

Final score:
Cube: 1 🏆
Puppies: 0 🐾
Management: Considering early retirement. 🍷🤣

But they sure had fun trying!

🐾 I’m an Autistic Empath … And My Dogs Have Absolutely No Respect for My Superpowers! 🤣

Have you ever walked into a room, looked at your dog, and immediately known something wasn’t right?

Meanwhile, everyone else is standing there saying, “What? He looks fine to me!”

Welcome to my world. 🤣🐾

I’m a high-thinking autistic empath. And before anyone starts imagining me sitting in a circle of puppies communicating telepathically while burning incense … NO! 😂

I’m empathic, not telepathic.

Although, after 30 years working with dogs, I sometimes wonder if the dogs have figured out how to read ME better than I read them. And that’s saying something!

Here’s something that may surprise people. Research I’ve encountered indicates that approximately two-thirds of high-thinking autistic people are empathic.

And there’s an important distinction I want to make.

Empathy is something you feel and demonstrate toward another living being. Being an empath describes something about who you are.

For me, that distinction matters.

I don’t simply observe a dog’s behavior. I experience an awareness of emotional changes, energy, tension, and the tiniest signals that many people never notice.

But there’s another side to being an empath that people rarely talk about.

That heightened awareness can come at an enormous physical cost.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve attended a convention, concert, or some other crowded event where hundreds or thousands of people are gathered, all experiencing different emotions, thoughts, excitement, stress, and energy.

For me, the experience can become so overwhelming that I develop a migraine, become physically sick, and throw up.

And sometimes, when everything becomes too much, I actually pass out.

Imagine going somewhere to have a wonderful time and having your own brain and body decide that there’s simply too much happening around you to process.

It’s not exactly the superpower people imagine! 🤣

And no, that doesn’t mean I can read people’s minds. I can’t. Nor do I believe I’m telepathic.

It means that my awareness of the emotional and sensory environment can become overwhelming, and I don’t always get to choose when that happens.

Being an empath isn’t just about what you recognize in others … it’s also about what experiencing all of that can do to you.

That’s one reason understanding regulation, overstimulation, recovery, and the need for downtime matters so much to me.

Because I understand what it feels like when your entire system becomes overwhelmed.

And when I’m working with dogs, that understanding becomes especially valuable.

A slightly different look in the eyes.

An ear that moves just a fraction.

A change in breathing.

A hesitation that lasts less than a second.

And sometimes that almost imperceptible shift in the entire room.

To someone else, absolutely nothing happened.

To me, the dog just delivered an entire PowerPoint presentation, complete with charts, graphs, and a strongly worded complaint about management. 🤣

And management, apparently, is ME!

Here’s where things get especially entertaining.

A puppy starts jumping, biting, running around like a caffeinated squirrel, and generally behaving as though someone installed a jet engine in its backside.

The humans think the puppy needs MORE exercise.

I’m looking at the puppy thinking …

“Sweetheart, you needed a nap 20 minutes ago, and now your brain has apparently left the building.” 😂

That’s not magic. That’s understanding the dog in front of me.

But being an empath adds another dimension to how I experience those interactions.

I can be deeply affected by the emotional atmosphere around me, including the changes I perceive in the dogs. That makes understanding my own emotional state just as important as understanding theirs.

And dogs are remarkable at noticing changes in us, too.

You can tell a dog you’re perfectly calm while you’re internally organizing a three-ring circus of frustration.

The dog may not believe a word of it.

And frankly, neither would I. 🤣

The funny thing is that people often think my work is about teaching dogs to listen to humans.

Much of my work is actually teaching humans to recognize what their dogs have been telling them all along.

Dogs communicate constantly.

Through movement. Through posture. Through distance. Through their responses to their environment. Through the choices they make.

And they don’t need words to do it.

My autistic brain loves observing patterns, collecting information, recognizing tiny differences, and connecting details that other people may overlook.

My experience as an empath is another part of how I connect with the animals I work with.

And my three decades of professional experience help me interpret what I’m seeing and feeling rather than simply assuming I know what a dog is thinking.

Put all of that together, and you get someone who can spend an entire afternoon absolutely fascinated by the way a Shih Tzu moves one ear.

Yes. ONE EAR.

Meanwhile, everyone else has gone home, eaten dinner, and probably watched an entire movie. 🤣

But that tiny movement might tell me something important about what the puppy is experiencing.

And THAT is what makes my work so fascinating.

At Ruff Ruff Ranch™, we don’t just focus on what dogs do.

We focus on understanding what happens before they do it.

Because behavior is communication, and understanding the brain changes how we respond to the behavior.

And if you ever visit Ruff Ruff Ranch™ and catch me having a serious conversation with a dog …

Don’t worry.

I’m not expecting the dog to answer in English.

🐾 YOUR DOG JUST BROUGHT YOU A GIFT!

Well… sort of. 🤣❤️

First, we need to review the official Canine Property Ownership Agreement.

🐾 Everything that belongs to your dog… belongs to your dog.

🐾 Everything that belongs to you… belongs to you.

🐾 Everything your dog touches… now belongs to your dog.

🐾 Everything your dog sees… belongs to your dog.

🐾 Everything your dog smells… also belongs to your dog.

🐾 Any disputes will be settled by the dog. 🤣

Now that we’ve cleared that up…

Have you ever noticed how your dog will proudly come trotting into the room carrying something absolutely precious?

Maybe it’s their favorite toy. Maybe it’s a slipper, a sock, a blanket… or something you haven’t seen since 2019. 😳🤣

They’re so proud! Their whole body wiggles. Their eyes sparkle. And they can’t wait to show you!

But here’s where humans get things terribly wrong…

Your dog isn’t necessarily saying, “Look what I brought you! Please take this wonderful thing away from me and never give it back!” 🙄😂

Can you imagine?!

“Hello, favorite human! I love this more than anything! Would you please confiscate it immediately?” 🤣

NO!

Often, they’re inviting you into THEIR world. They want you to notice. To participate. To share their excitement.

They aren’t necessarily offering you the object… they’re offering you a moment. ❤️

And that’s something we humans could learn an awful lot from.

When your dog brings you something special, you don’t have to take it. Admire it! Celebrate it! Laugh with them! Make a wonderful memory together.

If it’s something they shouldn’t have, trade for something equally wonderful or better. Never make taking treasures away the price of sharing them with you.

Because here’s the beautiful part…

❤️ Dogs are little angels on earth… ambassadors of unconditional love.

Humans spend so much of our lives collecting things, protecting things, buying things, and measuring what things are worth.

But our dogs?

They remind us that the greatest treasures in life aren’t necessarily things at all.

They’re the moments we share. The excitement of being together. The joy of having someone who wants to be part of our world.

And sometimes that beautiful lesson arrives at your feet…

In the form of a slobbery sock that apparently belongs to the dog now. 🥹🤣🐾

Maybe we’d all be better humans if we spent a little less time worrying about what we own… and a little more time appreciating who’s bringing us their treasures. ❤️

🐾 Sometimes, what looks like bad behavior is actually an overwhelmed brain! 🧠💚

Imagine experiencing the world through a puppy’s senses. Every smell, sound, movement, texture, and new experience demands attention. Eventually, that little brain says… ENOUGH! 😳

That’s when the biting, barking, jumping, zoomies, and inability to settle may begin.

Puppies don’t just need stimulation… they need time to recover from it!

At Ruff Ruff Ranch™, our young puppies have as many as 15 kennel wake-ups throughout the day, with frequent naps between their little adventures.

Why the kennel? Because it’s their familiar, safe place where they can rest without constantly processing the world around them.

Every calm wake-up is another opportunity to begin fresh… regulated, rested, and ready to learn. 🥰

We don’t develop better behavior by keeping puppies busy every waking minute. We develop it by balancing experiences with recovery.

🐾😂 WE WOULD LIKE TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT!

Dear Nana Charity,

We have reviewed today’s activities and have several concerns regarding the management of this establishment.

First of all… THE FLOOR WAS WET! 💦

Not just a little wet. There was an entire STREAM running through our walking area!

We stepped in it. We splashed in it. We investigated it thoroughly.

One of us is fairly certain the water MOVED while we were standing in it!

We are requesting an explanation.

SECOND… THERE WERE HOLES IN THE WORLD! 😳

You called them tunnels.

We call them highly suspicious tubes that swallow puppies at one end and spit them out at the other.

Naturally, we had to go through them several times to determine whether this was a recurring problem.

It was.

THIRD… THE FLOOR WAS BROKEN! 🪜

Some parts went UP. Other parts went DOWN.

Stairs! Ramps! Is that what you said?

Whoever designed this place apparently couldn’t decide where the ground belonged!

We would like to report that our tiny legs performed admirably despite these questionable construction choices.

FOURTH… THE ROCKS WERE NOT CONSISTENT! 🪨

Some were smooth. Some were rough. Some were big. Others were little.

And THEN there were BRICKS!

We put our paws on everything, sniffed everything, and conducted several extremely important taste investigations.

We have concluded that the landscaping department requires supervision.

Preferably by puppies.

FIFTH… THERE WERE TWO MASSIVE IMPOSTERS! 🐕😳

One was called a Mastiff.

The other was called a Newfoundland.

Nana Charity says they’re dogs.

EXCUSE US?!

They’re the size of FURNITURE!

We would like to know how long they’ve been eating and whether we can have whatever they’re having.

We were very polite during introductions.

Mostly because we were still trying to figure out if they were dogs or small horses. 🤣

SIXTH… WE WERE PLACED IN A WAGON! 🛒

Now THIS is where management finally got something right.

Transportation without walking!

Excellent views!

Room for friends!

We have voted unanimously to keep the wagon.

In fact, we would like to discuss upgrading to a model with heated seats, a snack bar, and a personal chauffeur.

We understand Nana Charity is currently accepting applications for the position.

SEVENTH… SOMEONE CHANGED THE AIR! 🍂😳

We aren’t exactly sure who is responsible, but something is DEFINITELY different around here!

The air feels cooler. The leaves smell funny. The ground smells different. Even the wind has apparently developed an attitude!

We spent a considerable amount of time with our noses in the air trying to determine what happened.

Nana Charity says it’s called AUTUMN.

We don’t know who Autumn is, but she certainly gets around!

She’s been messing with the trees, changing the smells, and blowing our ears around without permission!

We would like to speak to her supervisor.

EIGHTH… SOMETHING IS GROWLING, AND IT ISN’T US! 😳🔊

Now THIS requires immediate attention!

There were these HUGE, DEEP, RUMBLING noises coming from somewhere!

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMM!!!

We looked around.

Nobody was growling.

Not even the two giant dogs!

Nana Charity says they’re called MOTORS.

Well, whatever these MOTOR things are, THEY ARE LOUD!

And THEN… as if that wasn’t concerning enough… Nana Charity casually announced:

“Just wait a couple of days, babies. When you hear those motors, the GROUND is going to SHAKE!”

EXCUSE US?! 😳😳😳

THE GROUND?!

The same ground we’ve been walking on all day?!

THE GROUND IS GOING TO SHAKE?!

We have several follow-up questions.

Does the ground KNOW about this?

Should we warn the rocks?

WILL THE WAGON STILL BE AVAILABLE?!

Nana Charity just smiled.

We have no idea what she means by any of this.

But apparently, in a couple of days, things are going to get VERY interesting.

Further investigation may be required. 🧐🐾

We will be monitoring this situation closely.

Possibly from the wagon.

With snacks.

❤️ NOW… ABOUT THAT FINAL COMPLAINT.

Something very strange happens on these adventures.

We start out not knowing how to do something.

Maybe our feet hesitate on a new surface. Maybe we stare at the ramp for a minute. Maybe we need to watch another puppy try something first.

But Nana Charity doesn’t get upset.

She gives us time.

And then, somehow, the thing we weren’t sure about becomes something we can do.

Our tails start wagging. Our feet start moving. And suddenly we’re so proud of ourselves that we have to do it AGAIN!

We don’t really understand what she’s doing to us yet. She may possibly be a magical witch.

We just know that every time we figure something out, she looks at us like we’ve done something absolutely wonderful.

And honestly?

We think that look might be even better than treats. 🥹💕

Well…

Maybe not BETTER than treats.

Let’s not get carried away.

In conclusion, we give today’s management performance 10 out of 10 tail wags. 🐾❤️

Most complaints have been withdrawn.

With loved our muddy paws, chilly noses, and extremely important opinions today.
