I borrowed from another post, and did some editing that I thought more of us. I think our clients can attest to the little extras we bring to the table, and the passion we have for our dogs, puppies , and clients going forward. Our love for our pups goes far beyond pick up day!
IN CASE YOU EVER WONDERED:
🐾 Do you know how many rejections it costs to be a breeder?
Being a breeder is not just pictures of cute puppies and pride in beautiful dogs.
It is also a whole ocean of rejections that are invisible to someone on the outside.
🕰️ Time? There is no such thing as "free" time.
You forget about weekends, trips, vacations. At least for a few hours.
You can't go to the movies with newborns lying in the crib.
You can't sleep peacefully at night if the pregnant bitch is worried.
You can't leave the incubator when one puppy is fighting for its life.
There is no "break" in breeding. Every minute counts.
💸 Money? You invest endlessly
The investment in great dogs.
The investment in genetic tests, hunt testing, travel, food, supplements, c-sections, medicines, vaccines, facilities and accessories.
Income?
Sometimes it just goes away. There isn't any. Sometimes you are left in debt and... with an empty bed.
💔 Emotions? You learn patience and pain. Both are very real.
➡️ When a puppy dies in your arms, and you are powerless. Nature can be incredibly cruel.
➡️ When a bitch does not give birth, despite your efforts.
➡️ When you have to refuse a person who "only wants one dog", because you see that it will not be a good home.
➡️ When you sacrifice everything - and in return you receive hatred, jealousy and slander.
No routine - you are a breeder, but also:
🩺 a nurse/neonatalogist
🍼 a foster mother/father
📖 a geneticist
📦 a logistics planner
📷 a photographer
🧹 a cleaning lady/man
🧠 a psychologist 🤣🤣🤦🏻
💬 advisor to their clients, often for years
Social life can be difficult.
- "We can't meet because the litter is due.”
- "I won't come because the puppies have diarrhea and I need to guard them."
- "No, I won't leave them with anyone. "It's my responsibility."
❤️ But through it all... it's love❤️
Love for our animals, for their lives, for the development of the breed.
Love that makes you get up 10 times a night, or not go to sleep at all.
Love that doesn't let you take shortcuts.
Love that makes babies grow up healthy and makes you happy despite being sick, and/or tired.
Also important to us is the exposure our grandkids get to “life”. It’s not just the puppy playing and puppy kisses, it’s the miracle of birth, the importance of proper care, the passion, all the love, the cruelty of nature and heartbreak of loss. And last but not least, them seeing the joy that a new puppy brings to the face(s) of a new owner or family. Priceless. I think the experiences will make them better people. It has profoundly affected us.
❤️ Respect passionate breeders. Every day they give everything they can, although no one sees it. ❤️
Breeding is not only about cute puppies.
