Cottage Lake Quail We breed our quail for eggs & enjoyment and offer hatching eggs and live birds locally.

We are located in Woodinville, WA and started out with hens a few years ago (lovingly called the "Mothercluckers") and have now expanded to Coturnix Quail as well.

We've got two incubators going and it's "Lockdown" for one of them!!

What is lockdown? It's the last step before they hatch. We remove and candle all the eggs for signs of development, swap out the egg roller for a vinyl shelf liner (better grip for their feet once they hatch), bump the humidity (to help soften the eggshells) and wait PATIENTLY (the hardest part)!

We should have chicks hatching between tomorrow & Sunday! 😍

Just fulfilled a 24-bird Quail order!! I started offering live birds along with hatching eggs a couple of months ago and am REALLY enjoying it! I get the cool, fun part.... incubating/hatching/sexing and then get to hand them off to someone else starting their Quail journey.

Honestly the best part has been chatting with and educating my customers about these fun, amazing little birds! Pic of my "Bachelor Pad" for fun!

Well, it's been a challenging, devastating week! We raise and breed Coturnix Quail, but also have 5 hens (the ) and we had a bear visit the yard last weekend and wreak havoc! We now have two holes in the fence, a wrecked pre-fab coop and zero chickens! 😭

He also tried to get my Quail... knocked over my newly built Quail Condo, but we didn't lose ANY Quail! I was able to stand the Quail Condo back up and all the birds were ok with only minimal damage to my structure.

When I'm ready to rebuild for more chickens I think I'm going to build my own coop for them!

I think my favorite age of Coturnix Quail would be 2-3 week olds. I love watching all the different color patterns start...

More work on the new ... It's really coming along! I have to frame out the doors, install hardware cloth/boards to the doors and attach them... then board up the left side, finish painting, and install the roofing at a slant (for rain). Then it will be all done! I've had so much fun building this and have really learned a lot!

I love the newly hatched chick snuggling the other egg that's about to hatch! I also love the fact they encourage each other.... Once one hatches and starts chirping the other eggs seem to get the hint! 🤣
