On an 85°F day, the inside of a car can reach 120°F in just 30 minutes, even with windows cracked. Pets can suffer from heatstroke, organ damage, and death.

If you can't bring your pet inside with you, leave them home.

Crossroads Clients,

We’re heartbroken to share that Dr. Dustine Reppuhn has passed away. Many of you knew her, trusted her with your pets, and felt her kindness over the years. Our team is feeling this loss deeply.

While we’ve closed the hospital through the weekend, we’ll return to seeing patients on Monday, June 22nd. You can continue communicating with us electronically. For any emergencies, please reach out to Med Vet at 703-0361-8287.

As our staff navigates this difficult time, we’ll continue offering access to care for your pets. We only ask for patience and compassion in the days ahead as our team leans on one another and finds our footing.

Not all dogs are natural swimmers. Keep them safe:

- Use a pet life jacket, especially on boats.
- Never leave pets unattended near water.
- Rinse off chlorine or saltwater after swimming.
- Watch for blue-green algae in ponds and lakes.

Asphalt can reach 150°F when the air is only 85°F. That's hot enough to cause burns in seconds.

Quick Test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If you can't keep it there, neither can your dog.
