This is our domestic world in our home in Orlando, Fl. We rescue and currently have a number of exotic pets while living in a unique and harmonious way. We all are loved and rescued with loving stories. They do and we have the stories and pictures to show it. The Riley Zoo offers educational events and is available for Community Socials, Birthday Parties. School Presentations, and more! Our goal i

s to educate our audiences and the community through a safe and "hands on" approach. We welcome questions regarding reptile care and provide updates on our pets, and our new rescue stories. We teach the community what is the correct way to care for these special creatures. We currently have 15 snakes (non venomous), 3 Bearded Dragons, an Iguana, 9 cats, and our gopher tortoise, Speedy (that adopted us!). We share our unique story of love and care that is different than anything else you may have heard about. Well, today was a whole thing….woke up this morning to our AC breaking down in our house. The last time this happened our house reached 98 degrees and we almost lost Sassy and the kittens. Thank God for our beautiful friend Roxie at Reliable Services Group for saving our little zoo today. They showed up and were able to get the part we needed and by the end of the day we were back on!

In the middle of this chaos, Bianca caught a field mouse as a gift and presented it to us. 😩 Less than an hour later I looked up to see the opossum from the other night standing nose to nose with Bagheera who was chilling in the backyard. Why is an opossum trying to move in??? It was during the middle of the day! Matt put it safely back AGAIN over the fence. What a CRAZY day! Next up…who has a trap we can borrow to trap this little guy? We need help relocating him to our nature preserve down the street. Please pm if you can help us. 🙏🏼

Our sweet girl Minnie got sick over the weekend. She was struggling to go to the potty so a visit to our trusted vet Dr. Oakes
was needed and he got us in today. She let us know she was NOT happy in the car both there and back home but turned into a baby kitten at the office giving me big hugs and kisses while hiding her head in my arms. She was given an anti inflammatory, a stool softener, and she gets to enjoy mushy food for a good while. It maybe TMI but we seek to share so you can learn as we go too! We are so grateful for such a wonderful vet family to help us take care of our zoo.

Several weeks ago either someone dropped off a baby sulcata tortoise on our doorstep, or even crazier, a baby sulcata waltzed up to our doorstep for help. Either way, we were so happy to foster her for two weeks while we found the perfect forever home. Our sweet friend Sula already has Elvis, a beautiful big boy sulcata, and now he is joined by his little sister Elvira and she is now living her best life. We are so excited to watch her grow and thrive.

We had a blast with and who visited us this weekend. My precious stepdaughter and her sweet friend Jessica were visiting from LA and our zoo did not disappoint in showing off.

Poor little Meeko got a mysterious head wound this past Saturday night. 😿Fighting over the cat wheel, with Mushu, is our guess, but who knows with 13 cats here??? 🙀 Cleaned it, treated it with Antimax, and now he dones the cone, until further notice. It already looks better after one day of treatment and he’s been sleeping like a baby!!! He’s one tough little cookie!!! 🍪
