It’s time for our next stop on our park series! 🌳

📍Salem Lake Trail
1001 Salem Lake Rd. Winston-Salem

🏞️ This local park has stunning views of Salem Lake and it is definitely a must-see! The lake is huge and there are seven miles of paved and unpaved trails in the park. There are a lot of bikers that visit this area, so be sure to keep at least one headphone out so that you are sure to hear the bike bells. There are not many trash cans and even though most trash cans have a bag dispenser, it’s usually empty... so bring your own p**p bags! The area also has a playground for kids to enjoy. Keep in mind, the park closes at 7:30 each evening so leave plenty of time in your day to explore!

Last Friday was Match Day - such an exciting milestone! 🎉 Medical students officially found out where they’ll be heading for residency after graduation. 🎓

🌳 Introducing our parks series! We are so fortunate to have lots of beautiful and dog-friendly outdoor spaces around Winston Salem. We’ll be highlighting some of our favorite places to explore with Venture pups for our trail hike services!

🥾 Muddy Creek is one of our teams’ favorite spots for trail hikes! It’s well-shaded and the trail is paved and wide. With its whopping three miles of trails to explore and a playground at Jamison Park, this is sure to be a treat for kiddos as well as dogs! There are off-shoots of the trail that allow you to explore more wooded areas and be a little more secluded. You will probably have some company, as it’s a popular trail so keep that in mind if your dog is reactive.

🥶 With the below-freezing temperatures this week, here are some tips to keep our furry friends safe while enjoying their outdoor adventures!

🧊 Avoid heavily treated areas - most salts aren’t pet-friendly and can be toxic. Be sure to give your pet’s paws a good wipe down to remove any debris or harmful chemicals.
🎿 Protect those toe beans with a paw balm or booties to shield them from snow, ice and salt.
🧥 Keep your pup warm with a jacket - especially short-haired breeds who are more prone to the cold (plus, they look so cute in them!).

Our team aims to take extra precaution with monitoring your pets during this frigid time. If you have an appointment with us, please ensure pathways are cleared of ice and snow to keep everyone safe! ❄️
