Foster Feature - Agatha! 🐈‍⬛

Nothing quite compares to cozy cuddles with a senior cat who truly needs you, and shows her appreciation for the simple things every day.

Senior sweetheart Agatha found herself in the care of WAHS at 12 years old. We don’t know what her past life looked like – but what we DO know is that she deserves the world 🥹

A WAHS volunteer welcomed Agatha home in temporary foster care where she awaits an adopter. Agatha’s favorite activities include naps, naps, and more naps, taking up the occasional window-watching shift!

While there may not be as many years to spend together, senior adopters often attest that so much love, priceless moments, and lessons are found with older pets. We know a person’s out there for Agatha, someone who can show her the meaning of safety, family, and unconditional love when she needs it most.

Siblings who politely share Churu together, stay together 😸

While Chappell and Harvey patiently wait to find a family able to adopt them as a bonded pair, they get all the special treatment they deserve. After some playtime and a mini holiday photoshoot, they thoroughly enjoyed their favorite treat side by side!

Happy New Year’s Eve to all 🎉 As we reflect on the past year and prepare for the next, it’s the perfect opportunity to thank you - animal shelter supporters - for being our partners in changing pets’ lives.

Being a community-funded shelter, generous donors made it possible for WAHS staff and volunteers to provide 174 cats and dogs with stable, fresh starts in 2025, transforming both the animals’ worlds and their new families who get to adore them.

Despite the ups and downs, reminiscing on each year serves as a reminder of what’s possible when a large group of people join forces towards a common goal – and how important it is to keep the mission going.

Whether you’re an adopter, volunteer, donor, staff member, rescue partner, online supporter, animal advocate, or anywhere in between, thank you for venturing together with WAHS through 2025. See you in 2026 where more possibilities, animal welfare progress, and changed lives await! 🐈‍⬛🐶

Did you know that WAHS occasionally receives donated prescription food? Whenever possible we use it for animals in the shelter, but often the varieties can’t be utilized quickly enough — so we’d like to offer it to community members in need!

If your cat or dog is on prescription food and there’s a financial strain, email or call us and check if it’s available.

Depending on the type and amount, it may be given away to pet owners who have a current veterinary food prescription/authorization (must be presented upon pickup or sent in advance to [email protected]).

Contact the shelter directly with any inquiries about the process!

There are TWO days left to contribute to the December food drive! We invite community members to donate human non-perishable foods, dog food, and cat food, if able to do so.

Simply stop by during business hours today or tomorrow (12/31), drop off your donation(s), and provide your name/phone number to be entered in a thank-you drawing.

All human food will be donated to the community food shelf, and all pet food will support our pet food pantry for families in need.

River, Lauri, and Nick of Sammy’s Pizza started off the holiday in the most generous way, delivering gifts for pets and people alike ☺️🎄Thank you to the Sammy’s Pizza team for the thoughtful donations and excellent meal. Your kindness towards our animal shelter means so much!

We’d like to take a moment and thank every person who’s sent a Christmas card, submitted a pet adoption update, made a monetary donation, volunteered their time, or shopped for shelter supplies this holiday season! Checking the mail each day has been heartwarming, and every act of kindness brings such joy 😌

Countless individuals come together to make a positive difference in shelter pets’ lives during the season of giving, and it’s quite uplifting to witness – especially on the tough days.

Whether we’re able to thank you in person, through mail, or for those who wish to remain anonymous, please know your thoughtfulness is noticed, recognized, and so very appreciated.
