✨Alumni Spotlight!

Tommy Mc Collum ’23 is making an impact both on and off the field as a pitcher in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. This year, he received the Reading Phillies Gene Shirk Community Service Award for his dedication to local baseball camps and community events. On the mound, McCollum posted a 3.20 ERA across 37 appearances for the Reading Fightin’ Phils showcasing his commitment to excellence in the game and in giving back.

Nathan Roberts ’18 (Pharm.D.) has come a long way in seven years.

Fast forward to this past July, and Roberts, now a district manager who oversees 22 CVS stores, was chosen by Gov. Josh Stein to sit on the state of North Carolina’s 13-member Commission for Public Health.

Roberts and the other board members – who come from a variety of fields, such as nursing, veterinary medicine, optometry, even sanitation and soil engineering – must sign off on any rules made by the Department of Public Health. The board meets once every quarter, plus any special sessions necessary to tackle timely topics.

Roberts’ voice will be an integral part of the future of public health in the state.

✨Alumni Spotlight!

Mind Puangcharoen ’20 is making her mark in the world of sports as an event coordinator for IMG. A former Wingate golfer, she has already helped organize the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championships and led the junior program connected to Honda LPGA Thailand. Her journey from Bulldog golf to global tournaments shows the power of passion and dedication.

Nominations are open for the MLK Justice Award!

The award was created to recognize community leaders that advocate for and exemplify fairness, justice, equity, and inclusion like that of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.

Please nominate any Wingate University student, faculty, staff, alumni, or group, who embody these qualities. The winners will be recognized at the 2026 Awards Reception on January 22nd from 5-7pm.
