Colby Cody is a sweet hunk of love is about a year old and ready to sweep you off your feet (literally—he might ask you for a slow dance). He’s a total cuddlebug who lives for cheek scratches and rubs, and he’ll even put both paws on your shoulders to hug you tight.

Friends, our tiniest whiskered residents have one very big problem… their food bowls are running low! 😿 With so many hungry little mouths to feed, our shelves of kitten food are almost empty, and these babies are counting on us (and YOU!) to keep their bellies full.

🌟 A huge thank you to Girl Scout Troop 64657 of Southampton, MA! 🌟

Four amazing Cadettes—Amelia, Avery, Erin, and Sammie—are working on their Silver Award project, the highest honor a Girl Scout in grades 6–8 can achieve. For their project, they dreamed up something truly special for our cats: an outdoor catio!

Lovingly named the “Purrfect Paw Palace,” this new space will give our homeless and recovering cats a safe way to enjoy fresh air while they wait for their forever homes. The girls didn’t stop there—they also made cozy carrier beds and fun toys for our adoptable kitties. Their project, “Paws for Fresh Air,” is filled with compassion, creativity, and community spirit.

We are so grateful for their hard work.

Glitch is our quirky 9-year-old gentleman who’s currently in “stealth mode” at the shelter. After a big move from another shelter, he’s still figuring things out, so you’ll usually find him doing his best impression of a mysterious shadow. 👻

But don’t be fooled—Glitch isn’t broken, he’s just buffering! With a little patience (and maybe some treats), this shy guy will reboot his confidence and reveal the sweet, loving cat he really is.

Once he learns you’re trustworthy, you’ll have yourself a loyal companion who will stick by your side like your favorite playlist on repeat. 🎶

🐾 SOS: Medical Fund Emergency for CT Cat Connection 🐾

August is Clear the Shelters month—a time when many cats find their forever homes. But we know that not everyone who loves and supports our shelter can adopt right now.

If that’s you, there’s still an incredibly meaningful way you can help: by giving to our Medical Fund. We are facing urgent, unexpected expenses that threaten our ability to care for the cats who need us most.

One of those cats is Yoko (pictured). She was found near warehouses in Manchester, likely abandoned. Her jaw is dislocated, and she’s now in the hands of specialists. Surgery is likely—and soon.

Sadly, Yoko’s story isn’t the only one:

We currently have:
- 3 cats need echocardiograms ($500 each)
- 1 senior requires ongoing hyperthyroid treatment
- 1 cat is recovering from serious post-spay complications
and We owe $2,500 for a single cat’s dental surgery

Plus constant costs for specialty diets, vaccines, and medications

We will never turn our backs on a cat in need, but the truth is, we can’t do it alone. Adoption fees only cover routine care; emergencies like this stretch us to the breaking point.

🍑 Meet Mango

Mango is a gorgeous 2-year-old grey beauty with a heart that’s slowly thawing like a frozen pizza on a warm counter. She’s lived in an indoor, multi-cat household, and she’s totally cool with other feline friends. Humans, on the other hand… well, she’s still figuring us out.

When she first arrived, Mango was all “I live in the shadows” like some kind of fuzzy Batman. But slowly, she’s been showing her sweet side — allowing pets, offering slow blinks, and occasionally pretending she doesn’t secretly like you. She’s not the clingy type, but she is the type who will quietly become your favorite.

She’s looking for a calm, patient home where she can bloom like the shy flower she is (but make it goth). Older kids who respect her space? Cool. Dogs? Maybe, if they pass her very exclusive vibe check.

Bud, Sweetpea, and Buttercup – The Three Meow-sketeers (and yes, they come as a set) 😼😼😼

Born April 10, 2025, to their fierce, no-nonsense mama Sagwa, these three grew up learning the fine arts of pouncing, snuggling, and stealing hearts. Now they’re ready to upgrade from “mom’s kids” to “your entire personality.”

Bud – The ringleader. Has big “I run this house” energy and the zoomies to back it up.

Sweetpea – The undercover boss. Quiet, sweet… until she decides the toy is hers, and then it’s game over.

Buttercup – The only boy, which means he’s learned the fine balance of keeping up with the girls and looking extra cute while doing it.

They are ridiculously bonded – like, if you adopt one, the other two will stage a jailbreak to come find them. Seriously. Save yourself the trouble and take home the whole fuzzy set. Adopt all three, and you’ll have your own ready-made kitten sitcom, complete with love, comedy, and daily chaos.

Meet Jackie 💕

Some cats just have a story that stays with you—and Jackie is one of them.

On a sweltering 100-degree day, an older gentleman walked into a Connecticut pound, cradling a fluffy black cat in his arms. Through tears, he explained that he and Jackie had been living in his car for months after losing his home. Jackie had been his baby since she was a kitten—spayed young, always indoors, pampered and loved. But without air conditioning in the summer heat, he worried not for himself, but for Jackie.

He clung to her for the longest time, heartbroken, until a kind pound worker promised she would keep tabs on Jackie and make sure she was safe. That call made its way to CT Cat Connection, and soon Jackie was in our care.

Now this gentle senior lady, who is listed as 15 years old, is looking for her forever retirement home, a quiet place where she can curl up on a lap, soak up love, and finally feel safe again. Our vet says her body condition is like that of a much younger cat, and her manners are as sweet as her heart.

Our Story

Connecticut Cat Connection was started from a one person rescue in the 80’s by taking in one stray at a time, to working with other rescue organizations in the 2000’s, to expanding to its own organization under the name Cat Haven in 2003. Due to the increasing need to help more cats and the expense associated with any animal rescue, in 2007 the organization became a non-profit and officially changed its name to Connecticut Cat Connection. In October 2010, CCC expanded yet again and opened it’s first brick and mortar, street side Adoption Center in Windsor, CT, making their mission of “Finding ‘Forever Homes’ for every cat…”, a little bit easier. What began by taking in a few cats a year, to 100 cats a year, then upward of 200 cats a year in 2010, has now increased to approximately 400 cats a year. In 2011, CCC placed cats with approximately 213 families.

Over the years CCC estimates the shelter and it’s group of volunteers have rescued and re-placed over 500 cats. This is a tremendous success, however, it comes with much effort and comes high financial cost absorbing the high medical expenses associated with a no kill policy. In 2015, we moved to our new adoption center, this property will give us many opportunities to expand for the future and to better be able to house our kitties comfortably and stress-free!
