Let's talk about one of our dogs that could really use your help.
Cowboy is a very particular young dog who would love to find his perfect home and has been waiting what feels like forever. He currently lives in a foster home where he gets exercise daily, has a routine, structure, and another dog that he enjoys the company of.
Cowboy is not for first time dog owners and would do best in a home with ongoing training, routine and structure, no cats, but is okay with the right dog.

Name: Cowboy 🤠
Available Through: CATS & Dogs Northeast Volunteer Team
Contact: [email protected]
Adoption fee: 375 (covers his vetting: neuter, vaccines and microchip)
Breed: Catahoula mix
Weight: 55 #
S*x: male
Approx date of birth: 7/1/2023
* No cats!

Cowboy is an active boy who would enjoy a family who has a yard for him to run in!
He enjoys playing fetch with a ball or tug with a rope and he also loves to wrestle and chase his dog friends and foster dog sister!
A fenced in yard would be awesome but he has actually been trained on an electric fence in his foster home.
Cowboy is also trained to use the treadmill!

Sometimes things go in an unexpected direction! This family came to meet someone else, but he was startled by the sudden movements of their ten-year-old. Next thing we knew, Lyft was making up to the family, showing that he wasn't the least bit fazed by activity. The ten-year-old proclaimed that Lyft (now Eclipse) liked her and off they went! Love a happy ending.

Name: Rhubarb (Rhubarb Pie)
Available Through: CATS & Dogs Northeast Volunteer Team CATS &Dogs Northeast Volunteer Team
Contact: [email protected]
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog
Weight: 42 #
S*x: female
Age: DOB 6/20/2024

Background:
Rhubarb has had two previous homes. Her first home had her from 3-8 months old. They initially rehomed her because she was too much to handle and started nipping the back of the legs of the people in the home.
Her second home had her for a little over a year and tried very hard to acclimate her to their home but she wasn't meshing well with the already established pack. They attempted to crate and rotate but that resulted in Rhubarb not getting enough work and her behavior was declining.

Current Description:
Rhubarb is currently working on readjusting to pack life. She is living with a balanced pack of dogs and a few savvy cats.
She attends pack playgroups and is continuing training in obedience classes.

Type of home they would need now:
We prefer she goes to a home where someone has owned cattle dogs before and is ready to own one that can be a little next level.
Around dogs and cats she will need a firm handler who understands canine body language and will help her make the right decisions in play.
She has been titled in Barn Hunt, and has gone through each CGC level test. She had been started in tracking and scent work as well as dock diving and disc.

Energy level: High, higher than an average active family dog.
Favorite things to do: work, play, move, keep busy.
She will do anything that involves you and her. Hiking, obedience, ball, disc
Commands: sit, down, stand, recall
Dogs: she is dog selective. We may prefer to do multiple meet and greets if there are other dogs in the home.
Cats: She is living with 4 cats currently. They are all very confident around dogs and Rhubarb doesn't want to go after them, them but she does like to pester them. She would need to continue to have firm boundaries around how we treat feline friends if there are cats in the home.
Kids: Rhubarb likes kids. She hasn't lived with kids yet. I would not suggest a home with young children if you do not have instinctual herding breed experience or similar.
House-trained: yes
Crate-trained: yes
