Fig & Lala came to us for basic obedience training, but more importantly, to work on impulse control and reactivity. 🎉🐾 Meet Brooke & Her wonderful family, the newest members of the Ridgeside K9 family!🐾🎉

Brooke has officially wrapped up her training—and her family couldn’t be more impressed with the results. She came into training with a lot of enthusiasm but not much control. Whether it was a person or another dog, Brooke greeted everyone with full-body wiggles and excited jumps. Leash manners were nonexistent, and her impulse control (or lack thereof) meant certain family members couldn’t walk her at all. More than once, her leash was dropped, and her idea of recall was playing a game of “catch me if you can.”

But that’s all changed.

Now, Brooke walks calmly on leash—no more towing—and her ability to listen and follow commands has completely transformed. Her family is especially amazed by her recall, which has gone from frustrating to fantastic. Best of all, they now have the tools and confidence to enjoy life with Brooke to the fullest.

🎉🐾 Meet Max & His wonderful family, the newest members of the Ridgeside K9 family!🐾🎉

Max came to training a total wrecking ball—full of energy and zero impulse control. Walking him on a leash? Forget it. He’d jump, lunge, bite the leash—he wanted nothing to do with it. He knew “sit,” but only on his terms. Any other command got you a blank stare before he trotted off to do his own thing.
Today, he went home a different dog. Calm, focused, and responsive. He showed off everything he’s learned: a controlled heel, solid sit and down, reliable recall, and staying on place like a pro. His family now has the tools, the knowledge, and a strong foundation to keep building on.

🎉🐾 Meet Rami & Her wonderful owner, the newest members of the Ridgeside K9 family!🐾

Rami came into training needing a solid foundation in obedience, along with extensive exposure and confidence-building. She was her owner’s first working breed from true working bloodlines, and he wasn’t sure where to begin. A lack of exposure and high energy had led to a number of unwanted behaviors. But being young and eager to please, Rami picked things up quickly and was happy to work. Once her obedience foundation was set, we focused on building confidence—working through different environments to counter-condition those behaviors. She returned home with the structure needed to keep progressing. Now, Rami and her owner have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to live their best life together.

Darla came to training with a basic understanding of commands, but whether she listened depended on her mood and distractions around her. One of the main goals was to get her walking safely and under control. Her family also wanted to put a stop to unwanted behaviors like barking out of boredom, counter surfing, and raiding the trash.
Today, Darla returned home and impressed her family with how much she’s learned. For the first time, they were able to truly enjoy walking her. With the right tools and knowledge now in place, they’re set up to keep progressing and enjoy life together.

🎉🐾 Meet Posey & Her wonderful family, the newest members of the Ridgeside K9 family!🐾🎉

Posey wrapped up her two weeks of training today, impressing her family with her progress. She started as a typical food-driven adolescent Boxer—everything was at full speed, and if food was involved, she kicked it into overdrive. She was pawsy, jumpy, and had a knack for counter surfing and inspecting the dishwasher. Walks were more of a race, with Posey setting the pace and her handler struggling to keep up. Encounters with other dogs? That meant an all-out lunge fest.
But today, Posey showcased her newfound impulse control, responsiveness to commands, and overall neutrality. She wowed her mom by turning walks into something enjoyable, consistently checking in and looking for guidance. Now, with the right tools and knowledge, they’re set to continue building an amazing future together!

Jax came to training because his family wanted to give him a solid foundation. As a rescue, he had a rough start—found as an abused stray, he was especially reactive to men who raised their voices or moved quickly, suggesting past trauma.
Despite his difficult past, Jax was eager to learn and picked up commands quickly. Training focused on building his confidence and counter-conditioning his undesirable behaviors.
Today, Jax returned home and impressed his family by showing off everything he had learned. Equipped with the right knowledge and tools, they can continue helping Jax thrive as they build a happy life together.

Seamus arrived at training as a typical young Portuguese Water Dog—full of energy and eager to listen only when it suited him. He had no leash manners and would bark and lunge at anything that moved, whether it was another dog, a car, or a passerby. Obedience? That only existed if a five-course meal was on the table as a reward.
But today, Seamus returned home a changed dog. His family was thrilled to see him confidently walking on a leash, no longer reactive to distractions. He now follows commands when asked—not when begged. With this solid foundation, his family is excited to continue building on his progress and enjoy their time together even more.
