🐾 You gave them a home. Now help us tell their story!

Did you adopt your best friend from Animal Harbor—whether in our early hog barn days, at our current shelter, or just a few weeks ago? We’re collecting adoption stories from across the decades for our 2027 Animal Harbor calendar and would love to celebrate the lives changed along the way. 🤍

Please email [email protected] with the subject line “2027 Calendar”. Drop your photos and stories in the comments, too. We would love to see them ❤️

Please include:

📸 A clear, good-quality, full-resolution photo of your pet

📝 A short story about their personality, a favorite memory, or how they’ve changed your life

🐾 Their name, shelter name if different, and adoption year—even your best guess

We welcome stories of pets still by your side and those you’ll carry in your heart forever. Calendar space is limited, so submissions aren’t guaranteed a feature.

Our post photos celebrates the people and pets at Animal Harbor’s heart: staff members with their adopted companions. Their stories remind us why the bond between people and animals makes this work so meaningful. ❤️

Hey there I'm Sarah Reese, a playful and mischievous 7-month-old kitten with a striking white and black coat! 🐱 I'm affectionate and friendly, and I absolutely love the company of people who'll play with me and give me attention. I'm not spayed yet, but that's something your vet can take care of quickly so I can settle into my forever home. I'm ready to bring lots of fun and cuddles into your life! 💕

What a magical, spellbinding day at our Halloween Paws and Pages event! 🧙‍♂️✨

We are still reeling from the incredible turnout—165 awesome guests joined us, while 17 dedicated staff members and volunteers worked their wizarding magic (and had a blast!) to put together such a fun, heartwarming day for our Franklin County community! 🐾❤️

With our cat wing currently at full capacity and an unprecedented wave of kittens for this time of year, getting our furry friends love, attention, and awareness is more vital than ever. Seeing so many of you open your hearts to our sweet felines made us feel like we cast the ultimate Cheering Charm! 🐱⚡

A huge, heartfelt shoutout goes to our legendary Paws and Pages leader, Sarah, along with every single volunteer who chipped in to make this event run smoothly. We truly couldn't have pulled off this spellbinding day without your hard work and dedication! 🧹🌟

We are feeling beyond grateful for our amazing community and so excited for all the wonderful things coming next. Thank you for showing up for the shelter.

If you have photos from the event, please share them in the comments! We would LOVE to see them and hear from you ❤️🐾

A magical creature has appeared at the shelter… and she meows.

This little fairy Sunny is floating (okay, waddling) around in her sparkly wings, sprinkling exactly zero fairy dust but 100% attitude. She’s granting wishes like:

✨ “You may pet me.”
✨ “You may bring treats.”
✨ “You may admire my outfit.”

Come meet our tiny enchantress Sunny she’s ready to charm her way into a forever home.

Our pumpkin patch is officially open, and it features exactly two pumpkins… both of whom meow.
Adam and Hailey are dressed in their pumpkin costumes and serving maximum fall vibes. They’re cozy, cute, and convinced they’re the stars of Halloween. Honestly? They’re right!

Classroom visits are back! 🎒🐶

Our education team and our incredible ambassador dogs are heading back to school to inspire the next generation of animal lovers. Seeing kids connect with our furry team members while learning about compassion, safety, and responsible pet care is easily one of our favorite things to do.

A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers and dog-and-handler teams who bring these lessons to life! We truly believe a kinder, more humane community starts right in the classroom. ❤️🐾🧒
