Happy 4th of July, kids. So, a reminder, lock your doors, latch your screen doors and windows, lock your gates and keep your dogs safe inside. We've already had two calls today for dogs that people have found that are very clearly lost pets. Fireworks are super scary for dogs.

Aside from that little PSA, here's Bronco, who is a staff favorite for being an extra good boy. Bronco is a 3 year old, 85 pound Great Pyrenees mix and he is perfect. He loves all people, including Teacup Peopleโ„ข over the age of 6, he is great with dogs and he is fine with cats. He is seriously all about love and he would not know how to bark at an intruder, because an intruder is just an opportunity to make another friend is his eyes.

Bronco is playful and needs a dog friend and a fenced yard. He is trustworthy off leash in exactly the same way I am trustworthy around frosted sugar cookies which is to say not at all. Bronco is happiness in a dog package and he is an absolute ray of sunshine. Anyone would be very very lucky to have him.

Bronco is in Nashville and can go anywhere we do. Interested adopters should email [email protected].

Spread the word please.

Do you or someone you know need resources for their pets?

We are hosting a PET WELLNESS FAIR THIS WEEKEND AT THE SHELTER ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿถ

Let us help you and your pets!

๐Ÿ“ All of our community programs have guidelines and these guidelines must be respected (along with the staff member or volunteer who is assiting you) or you will not be helped.

๐Ÿ“ Please note that our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) cost has gone from free to $20 per pet. Also know that $20 is a huge discount on a service that would normally cost you $120-$250 without Animal Harbor's financial assistance and the help of our local vet partners.

๐Ÿ“ Our next Community Wellness Fair will be held March 11, 10 am- 12 pm at the shelter.

You can find more information and pre-register here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc8hV45w1pYWdlZxrGecrfBhZUjzrNFIqeltlTBZqQRQ4eFfg/viewform

Thanks. We look forward to assisting you and your pets ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ˜บ

Enough is enough. FrankIin County shelters cannot keep up. We would need 10 or more buildings to hold all the cats we are getting constant calls about. It is beyond heartbreaking for all of us who love the cats... Bringing the cats/kittens to the shelter is not the big picture solution.

Spay/Neuter is the solution and a huge part of our mission. Do not wait until it is too late. Spaying or neutering is much easier and takes much less time and effort than trying to rehome multiple kittens and multiple litters.

This graphic is very eye opening and telling of what happens when only ONE cat is not spayed!

Low income and need help with the cost? We are here to help. Not low income? Seek out a low cost clinic.

Please reach out to us if you need help with spay/neuter cost. This is a community effort guys. Letโ€™s stop the problem of overpopulation in Franklin County. The solution starts with YOU.

Little kitten has showed up at a home near Taylor creek in Estill springs
I need to know what the laws are here? There is a dog on my road that is chained in front of a dog house in this heat. There's no running water at the home and the owner doesn't stay there much. The dog is going to die in this heat with nowhere to get cool and no cold water to drink. Please tell me this is against the law!
Franklin County Animal Control (IL) was so happy to receive 26 large beds so that every pup would have a bed up off the concrete floors! Thank you to every one who made this simple gift of comfort possible. โค

"Thank you again for getting these to the FCAC โ€” they needed them so badly and itโ€™s going to help a lot since itโ€™s start to get humid here and the concrete just seems to stay damp all the time. Now the dogs can stay nice and cool on their new beds!" ~ Katie

Mama Houdini has done it again. Missy is female with collar (hopefully still on) spayed. Her home is close to Hwy 130 S& J market, Tullahoma TN. We love her but she likes to escape every chance possible. If you should see her please call 615 869 8620 or 615 542 3175.
Please do not release animals to Dogs in Harmony or their associates. The operator has been convicted, theft of a dog. Theft was of a neighbors dog ( has magically disappeared) and they have still not paid restitution according to the neighbor. The operator has also made physical harm threats to a neighbor. They are not complying with zoning regulations either.
In October 2021, Franklin County Animal Control responded to an extreme case of animal neglect and hoarding. Several different species of animals were living in confinement in small crates. We believe many of these animals had never seen the light of day.

Thanks to the help of so many involved in this case, many of these animals were able to be saved. Franklin County Animal Control, Cathy Bissell, Underdog Pet Rescue of Wisconsin, Inc. ,Nashville Humane Association, amazing foster Suzy Pruitt O'Daniel, AH's Jessica Brown and Nashville Cat Rescue are heros!

We want to tell the story of the remaining cats that survived. Frisco, Felicia, and Hunter remained in the care of animal control, until foster Suzy and Animal Harbor had space to pull them.

We are so happy to say Felicia has officially been adopted by a resuce partner in Nashville and Frisco and Hunter remain in the care of foster Suzy until they are healthy enough to go up for adoption.

See, these cats have survived against all odds. It has taken much time for them to adjust to having been confined, healing from several illnesses, having fresh breathing air, and understanding the world around them.

The process to healing has taken time, but we are so proud of how far they have all come.

This is a note from foster Suzy, in regards to Hunter's current health battle:

Hunter has stomach issues. We originally thought it was FIP but the symptoms seem to be gradually improving. He has a few balance issues but those are definitely improving.

I think his issues are due to him being confined in a small area for so long. I've gradually made his world bigger. From big crate, to catio, to bathroom to now run of the house! BUT- He still breaks stuff and misses his landing when he jumps. But everyday, his aim is better. He is adjusting to knowing a bigger world little by little.

We know this story is a sad one, but it is also one of hope for a better tomorrow for those that suffered in silence for SO long.

We also want to share this as an educational piece. Animal hoarding is not uncommon. If you hear something, see something, or even smell something (because many times these animals are well hidden out of sight), SAY SOMETHING!

The surviving animals would not have survived in this living situation much longer.

Speak up! Report animal abuse and neglect to your local animal control or law enforcement.
