Milo Foundation Sanctuary

Milo Foundation Sanctuary The Milo Sanctuary in Willits, CA, cares for more than 200 animals. Many great dogs/pups to adopt!!! We welcome volunteers, adopters and visitors by appointment.

The Milo Sanctuary is east of Willits and was founded by Director Lynne Tingle in 1994. Milo also has a thriving adoption center, Milo Point Richmond where the majority of our rescues arrive and are adopted from, however the Milo Sanctuary also has new rescues arriving often. As well as providing a safe place for moms and their puppies, and a place for dogs needing a break from a kennel, our Sanc

tuary provides ample space for dogs to be dogs, and semi tame and feral cats to live their lives! In 30 years the non-profit has saved over 45,000 animals from being euthanized in California shelters! To visit the Sanctuary please email, or call and talk to our office and Adoption Manager, Amy, Tuesday through Saturday, as we have a small yet dedicated staff and want to ensure that we can devote full attention to your visit, and make sure you are a good fit for the animal you wish to adopt. The Milo Sanctuary is always in need of volunteers, foster homes, donors and of course loving families looking to adopt! Please contact us if you would like to help!

It’s so wonderful to have the support of our Willits Community!! The Savings Bank of Mendocino County held a fundraiser for the Milo Sanctuary animals and presented us with a check for $1,182!
Very helpful, and much appreciated indeed! As we go into the winter months our costs increase, for heat, straw to pack the animals sleeping enclosures, more laundry, more food and treats, running heaters, and doing all we can to keep the animals safe, happy and comfortable!!

Thank you to all who give to help homeless animals!

Whoooaah Nellie! This most lovely, smaller Great Pyrenees is ready for a home. Her coat is still recovering from having a litter of pups recently and lacking in maternal care… then dumped in a shelter.
Nellie derives the world, or at least a home with loving people, decent sized outdoor space and a playful canine buddy or two, or maybe goats!?! She doesn’t love being indoors (hated a kennel - understandably) but is super happy with people and dog friends and we think good w cats and other animals. A total gem for someone/s familiar with Great Pyrs. Patient, soft mouth, great with family/kids… gentle and willing to please which is a lot sometimes for a Pyr. 😅

Our Story

The 283 Acre Milo Sanctuary in Willits was founded by Director Lynne Tingle in 1994. Since then Milo has also opened an adoption center in the bay area, “Milo Point Richmond” (MPR) where the majority of our pets are adopted. In 25 years the non-profit has saved 35,000 animals from being euthanized in CA shelters!

Appointments to visit the Sanctuary need to be set in advance with Sanctuary Management as we have a small yet dedicated staff and want to ensure that we can devote full attention to your visit, and we like to discuss which animals you have in mind first by phone as most of the animals residing at the Sanctuary have some kind of “quirk.”

The Sanctuary is home to many animals who are looking for country homes as well as being a temporary stop for some in need of a break from the kennel environment of our Adoption Center MPR. The Milo Sanctuary is always in need of volunteers, foster homes, donors and of course loving families looking to adopt! Please contact us if you would like to help!
