Milo Foundation Sanctuary

Milo Foundation Sanctuary The Milo Sanctuary in Willits, CA, cares for more than 200 animals. Many great dogs/pups to adopt!!! We welcome volunteers, adopters and visitors by appointment.

The Milo Sanctuary is east of Willits and was founded by Director Lynne Tingle in 1994. Milo also has a thriving adoption center, Milo Point Richmond where the majority of our rescues arrive and are adopted from, however the Milo Sanctuary also has new rescues arriving often. As well as providing a safe place for moms and their puppies, and a place for dogs needing a break from a kennel, our Sanc

tuary provides ample space for dogs to be dogs, and semi tame and feral cats to live their lives! In 30 years the non-profit has saved over 45,000 animals from being euthanized in California shelters! To visit the Sanctuary please email, or call and talk to our office and Adoption Manager, Amy, Tuesday through Saturday, as we have a small yet dedicated staff and want to ensure that we can devote full attention to your visit, and make sure you are a good fit for the animal you wish to adopt. The Milo Sanctuary is always in need of volunteers, foster homes, donors and of course loving families looking to adopt! Please contact us if you would like to help!

Meet Obsidian – Growing Up in a Shelter, Hoping for a Home 🖤🐾

Obsidian is a 1 year and 10-month-old Border Collie mix who’s grown up knowing only life at a shelter. He came to Milo as a puppy—and now, nearly two years later, this beautiful boy is still waiting for someone to call his own. It’s heartbreaking to think that all he knows is a kennel yard, not a cozy home.

Obsidian is a sweet, sensitive soul who’s still learning to trust. He can be shy and nervous around strangers, but once you earn his trust, he’s affectionate, loving, and eager to connect. With structure, patience, and consistency, Obsidian is blossoming into a loyal companion.

✨ Great with other dogs and even good with cats! He currently shares his space with a female dog friend at the Sanctuary.
🏡 He’ll do best in an adult-only, quiet home with breed-savvy adopters.
🐾 A quick learner, active and playful—ideal for hiking, running, or agility.
🎓 Still working on manners and confidence—he needs someone who can dedicate time and love to help him shine.

Obsidian deserves more than growing up behind a fence. Let’s give him the chance to know what love, home, and freedom feel like.

Meet Lulu – A Brilliant, Trained Husky Looking for Her Second Chance 🐾❄️

Sweet, smart, and full of heart, Lulu is a 4-year-old Siberian Husky mix who’s ready to find her new forever family. Previously deeply loved and well-cared for, Lulu arrived at the Milo Sanctuary only because her family faced unexpected medical challenges and had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go.

Lulu isn’t just a beautiful dog—she’s highly trained, with two certificates of achievement from Skully Dogs Training. She knows her core commands, is leash trained, house-trained, and listens exceptionally well.

She’s great in the car, a natural hiker and swimmer, and does beautifully with both male and female dogs. With her affectionate nature and calm demeanor, Lulu would make a wonderful companion for an active family or a person looking for a steady, loyal partner.

Lulu is leash reactive in some situations but responds well to guidance, especially from someone who understands her breed and her training foundation. This girl thrives with structure, adventure, and love.

Meet Alby – The Little Pup with the Biggest Cuddles and zero care for sounds! 💛

This sweet 2.5-month-old pup may be deaf, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit! Alby is smart, playful, toy-motivated, and already thriving in his foster home. He came to Milo with his mama at just one week old and has grown into a curious, cuddly, and active little guy.

Alby has a submissive playstyle and is so gentle that he even gets along with his foster’s not-so-dog-friendly dog—a true testament to his sweet nature!

Perks:
No doorbell drama.
Amazon package? Neighbor’s dog barking? They’ll sleep right through it.

Need to vacuum at 2 a.m.?
Go for it. Deaf dog = zero complaints.

Unfiltered love.
Deaf dogs listen with their hearts. (And also their eyes, noses, and pure vibes.)

Alby is looking for a very special home:
🐶 He would love another dog in the home to help him navigate the world
🏡 A family that’s home often (every 2–3 hours) for training and socialization
💛 A commitment to love and care for him for the next 13+ years

Despite being deaf, Alby is quick to learn and eager to bond. He’s great with cats, dogs, and people, and he’ll thrive in a loving, attentive household where he’s treated like the precious pup he is.

Meet Wallace & Gromit – 6+ Years of Waiting, Still Hoping 💛🐾

Wallace and Gromit have been at the Milo Sanctuary since January 2018 — that’s over 6 years of waiting for a home of their own. These inseparable best friends have shared everything together, and now they’re hoping to share the next chapter of their lives with someone who will keep them together, forever.

They’re both gentle, quiet souls—a little shy at first, but give them patience, love, and a few treats, and they’ll begin to trust. Once they do, their sweet, devoted nature comes shining through. They’re affectionate, low-key companions who just want a safe place to call home.

Wallace (8 years old, 15 lbs) and Gromit are looking for:
🛋️ A calm, adult-only home with patient people
🐾 A secure yard (they’re clever little escape artists!)
🐶 A family who understands the needs of shy, bonded dogs
💞 A forever home committed to adopting both boys together

They’ve already spent half their lives waiting — let’s not make them wait any longer.

April is a 3-year-old Australian Cattledog mix with a loyal heart, an intelligent mind, and a spirit built for companionship and adventure. Meet Enzo – A High-Energy Genius Looking for His Perfect Match 🧠🐾

Looking for a smart, athletic partner who’s always ready for action? Enzo might just be your soulmate. This 2-year-old Border Collie mix is not only stunningly handsome, he’s also got the brains and energy to match.

Enzo has been putting in the work—he’s practiced on the agility course at the Milo dog park and received daily training and enrichment in foster care. He’s a quick learner, eager to please, and incredibly affectionate with his people.

But Enzo isn’t for the casual dog owner. He’s a true working dog at heart and needs:
🐕‍🦺 Structure and training – He thrives when his sharp mind is kept engaged
🥾 An active lifestyle – Think hikes, adventures, or even ranch work
🚫 A no-small-animal household – Cats and little critters are a no-go
🧍‍♂️ A patient, experienced handler – Someone who understands and appreciates the Border Collie mind

He’s leash-trained and not a big puller, but when overstimulated, he may redirect onto his leash. With guidance, he stops immediately. He just needs someone to help him channel his intensity into confidence.

If you’ve got the time, space, and know-how to give Enzo the life he was meant for, this incredible boy will give you loyalty, love, and fun every single day.

Meet Rosco – Scruffy, Spirited, and Ready for His Match! 🐶✨

At 7 years old and just over 24 lbs, Rosco the Norfolk Terrier mix is a little guy with a big personality! From his adorable scruffy face to his wiggly tail and endless chatter, Rosco is a dog who knows what he wants—and isn't afraid to tell you about it!

He’s sweet, silly, and loves to greet people with a burst of excitement. Rosco is also a fan of leash walks, backyard romps, and playing with other dogs, but his ideal home is one that’s adult-only and understands a terrier’s bold streak.

Rosco can be a bit bossy and territorial, especially in a home with kids, so a child-free, structured environment with plenty of mental stimulation is his perfect match. Bonus tip: he’s also an escape artist, so a secure yard is a must!

If you’re looking for a spunky sidekick with charm, quirks, and loads of love, Rosco is ready to be your guy!

Our Story

The 283 Acre Milo Sanctuary in Willits was founded by Director Lynne Tingle in 1994. Since then Milo has also opened an adoption center in the bay area, “Milo Point Richmond” (MPR) where the majority of our pets are adopted. In 25 years the non-profit has saved 35,000 animals from being euthanized in CA shelters!

Appointments to visit the Sanctuary need to be set in advance with Sanctuary Management as we have a small yet dedicated staff and want to ensure that we can devote full attention to your visit, and we like to discuss which animals you have in mind first by phone as most of the animals residing at the Sanctuary have some kind of “quirk.”

The Sanctuary is home to many animals who are looking for country homes as well as being a temporary stop for some in need of a break from the kennel environment of our Adoption Center MPR. The Milo Sanctuary is always in need of volunteers, foster homes, donors and of course loving families looking to adopt! Please contact us if you would like to help!
