Long‑Term Foster Needed for Newly Diagnosed Diabetic

Garfield is a newly diagnosed diabetic currently managed on Bexacat, a fairly new once‑daily oral medication. It requires close monitoring during the first couple of months to ensure it’s working effectively. As a heads‑up, there’s no guarantee he won’t need to transition to twice‑daily insulin injections in the future.

We will provide all vet care, diabetic medication, and Fancy Feast canned food (no dry food, as this gives him the best chance at remission). Garfield also has a skin allergy and takes medication for that as well.

He is truly a sweet, laid‑back boy who will thrive in a home environment where his diabetes can be better managed.

Birdie was found abandoned, and it was immediately obvious she wasn’t feral — she marched right up to her finder with all the confidence of a cat who knows humans are her people. Since settling into her foster home, Birdie has absolutely flourished. She adores every human she meets, loves being the center of attention, and turns into a full‑blown purr machine the moment you start petting her.

She’s also shown a lot of interest in other cats. Birdie is constantly trying to sneak out of her foster room to socialize, and she plays with the resident cats under the door, so she appears to be a good candidate for a multi‑cat home.

However, Birdie is not a match for homes with small children. She enjoys being picked up and handled only when she decides it’s time, and she will make that very clear. At this point, we’re unsure how she feels about dogs.

Birdie is ready for a home where she can soak up affection, call the shots, and continue blossoming into the confident, people‑loving girl she’s become.

DESPERATE NEED FOR CAT-FREE FOSTER!

***We only need a foster for 4 weeks. This boy is such a sweetheart! He wants all the attention. Requires daily eye meds and lots of love. PLEASE help us by sharing this post if you cannot foster him.***

This approximately 6‑week‑old kitten is super sweet, super vocal, and was found wandering alone on a country road with questionable eyes. We had a foster home lined up until we discovered he has feline lice. Because feline lice are only contagious to other cats, he now needs a cat‑free foster home. Treatment is straightforward: two topical applications, 4 weeks apart.

He will also need daily eye drops as we work to preserve his vision. He’s bright, affectionate, and full of determination — he just needs a safe place and someone willing to help him through this short‑term medical care.

LAPS NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!

If you’ve been thinking about helping out, now’s the time — our cats really need you.

Regular Volunteer Shifts Needed:
• Mondays: 8 a.m.–12 p.m. & 5 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
• Wednesdays: 2 p.m.–5:30 p.m.

Medication Givers Needed:
• Mondays: 5 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
• Fridays: 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Before you apply, here’s a quick overview so you know exactly what you’re signing up for — this is hard work, but incredibly rewarding. The is a required 1 hour orientation before becoming a volunteer.

Regular Volunteer Duties

A regular shift may include:
- Scooping litter boxes
- Replacing old litter with fresh
- Sweeping rooms
- Changing bedding
- Refreshing water
- Feeding wet & dry food

Medication Giver Duties

Med‑giver responsibilities may include:
- Measuring/monitoring food for specific cats
- Providing prescription diets
- Giving pills (in food or orally)
- Administering transdermal meds (ear‑flap application)
- Reading/following detailed instructions
- Being comfortable pilling cats

You’ll be trained alongside another volunteer until you’re confident.

Bonded Housemates in Need of a Foster Home

Sam and Marvin are bonded housemates whose owner recently passed away. To honor that bond, we’re searching for a foster home so they don’t have to enter a shelter.

Marvin is a handsome tiger‑striped boy, about 14 years old, and a total lap sitter. He is front declawed, has some arthritis and can’t jump well. Sam is an orange‑and‑white gentleman, approximately 12 years old and still has his claws.

They have never been apart since the day Sam joined the home — which is why they must stay together. Both boys are loving, gentle, and grieving. A quiet, stable foster home would mean everything to them. LAPS covers all veterinary care at our designated veterinarian.
