Water Lily is looking for a calm home 🪷 She's 7 months old and absolutely loves cuddling and getting bellyrubs ❤️ She's also a big fan of treats 🍖 She can be a bit shy at first and needs some training on the leash, but is smart and will likely learn quickly 🧠 We don't know too much about this girl, but she needs a patient and loving family who can show her the world is a kind place 🌎 Come meet her today!

Meet Barkerella, one of my favorite dogs of the day 🥰 She's only 6 months old and will require some leash training, as she was carried from WAS to KHS, as well as to and from the play yard 🆙 She likes to keep her body close to the ground, but as soon as we were outside, she immediately got the cutest zoomies and kept sliding into us as she flipped onto her back for bellyrubs ❤️ She's a submissive girlie and still has some growing up to do! This beautiful shepherd's name is Reverse, and he'd love it if you reverse your car around and come meet him ↪️ He's 3 years old and came to us as a transfer from our neighbors at the Wichita Animal Shelter, so we only know what we were able to observe in the play yard. He knows sit, likes snacks, shows signs of housetraining, and enjoys getting chin scratches ❤️ Come visit him today and see if he's the boy for you 🏡

Meet my favorite dessert of the day, Brownie 😋 She's a 4-year-old Aussie/Blue Heeler mix who weighs in at only 22 lbs! Be warned, she's a bit of an escape artist who loves to run out the front door! We'd also suggest no children under the age of 10, as she has a tendency to herd them 🐑 She's described as being an affectionate, playful, curious, talkative, and active lapdog. Brownie likes pets, chasing, and tug-o-war ❤️ Despite never walking on a leash, she got the hang of it quite quickly. She also knows sit and come, was kept indoors, is housetrained, and will bark when she needs to go outside! She's very lovable and had a blast sitting in my lap in the cool shade 😌 Come meet her and see if this Brownie recipe is yours!

Ringo is one of my favorites in the shelter at the moment ❤️ He's a 10-month-old boy who came to us from our neighbors at the Wichita Animal Shelter, so we unfortunately don't know his story. Initially, he'll likely have a lot of energy and get some zoomies, although he tends to burn through that puppy energy quite quickly 😮‍💨 He knows how to sit, come, shake, and lay down. He seems to love chew toys, so we'd recommend picking up Kongs and other chew toys at our KHS Store if you choose to adopt him 🦴 The rest of our time outside, he mainly just sat by me and chewed on his rubber toy. While in foster care for weight gain, his foster noted Ringo loves treats and likes to be rewarded 🍖 He really enjoyed playing with the resident dog in his foster home and was great with the kids in the house (ages 11+) 🥰 He has a lot of energy and would do best with an active family. He is crate-trained and housetrained, but will have accidents if you do not pay attention to his cues telling you he needs to go out (he usually goes to the door or starts pacing to let you know) 🚪 He learns very quickly and is eager to please! If you're looking for a fun boy, Ringo is definitely your guy!

🍎 KHS IS GOING BACK TO SCHOOL 📚 Do your kids love animals? We visit schools, clubs, homeschool groups, and community organizations! Our classroom presentations help teach young kids about responsible pet care, with many fun and interactive activities 👩‍🏫 The kids even get to meet a special animal guest!

Classroom Visit Details:
• Available Tuesday through Friday
• 30-45 minute presentation about pet care and how KHS helps local pets
• A special animal guest for the kiddos to meet (past students have met dogs, cats, and even guinea pigs 🐶🐱🐹)
• NO FEE! (monetary donations or supply drives are welcome 😊)

🐾 7 SPOTS LEFT FOR KIDS BOOK CLUB 📖 Bring the kids (ages 9-12) to KHS for an adventure throughout the month of September centered around Because of Winn-Dixie ❤️ They’ll receive a personal copy of the book, have weekly themed crafts and activities, participate in book discussions, and have an animal guest to read to 😄 After we’re done with the book, we’ll have a pizza and watch party of the film on Tuesday, September 23rd 🍕
