Looking for an affectionate pup? We'd highly recommend Sweets, who is a real sweetie ❤️ She's 11 months old and weighs 49 lbs! She showed a huge interest in another dog on the other side of the fence, loves giving kisses, and already knows sit 🤌🏽 We don't know a ton about her, as she came to us as a stray, but she's a very good and smart girl 🧠 Come meet her today!

Meet Esterilla! She's my favorite new dog I've met today, and I know you'll love her too ❤️ Esterilla is super sweet and so snuggly. She's a more mellow girl who enjoys cuddles, people-watching, and exploring outside 🗺️ Esterilla's about 3 years old and fully grown at 61 lbs. She has velvety-soft fur and the cutest wrinkly face! She lived outdoors at her previous home, but did well when let indoors. She's also had limited exposure to the leash, but has done well when leashed at our shelter 🦮 Esterilla previously lived with 2 other large dogs, with whom she was friendly and loved playing with! If you already have a resident dog, we offer dog-to-dog introductions at KHS to ensure it's a good fit before adopting 🐾 This girl is super sweet and can't wait to meet her new family! She was a stray-transfer, so sadly, we don’t know her history, but DA is very sweet and friendly 🥰 She may be shy when first meeting new people, but she LOVES affection! With a little patience, she'll warm up in no time. DA enjoys being held and cuddling up close to her favorite people! One of our foster kittens kept an eye on all our shelter pets all December long, reporting back to Santa Paws each night 🎅 Blanche did a great job, and even found her and her sister a new home just in time for the holidays! Before she left with her new family, Blanche wrote a goodbye letter to her adoring fans. Thanks for being a part of her elf journey! She even got a special elf graduation hat after all her hard work 🥹❤️ Happy Holidays to everyone!

Every adoption story is a testament to what’s possible when our community comes together for our local pets, so in the spirit of the 12 Days of Christmas, here are 12 Homes for the Holidays 🐾 Please look through the photos and read their stories!

And as we head into the new year, we know our work is far from over. Animals will continue to arrive at our doors needing care, safety, and a second chance. Day 24 of Elf on the Shelf… one of our foster kittens has been keeping an eye on all our shelter pets, reporting back to Santa Paws each night 🎅 It’s finally Christmas Eve! Before she left for her new home yesterday, Blanche set out some Churu and water for Santa Paws so he’ll have a snack when he gets to our shelter 🦌🛷 She may have had a few bites, but that’s okay, sharing is caring! Blanche has officially been adopted and left KHS, but check in again tomorrow to read her goodbye letter (and to see her in a special elf graduation hat) 😊❤️

🐾 SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR CRITTER CAMP ⛺️ Join us on Tuesday, December 30th, from 9 AM-12 PM and/or 2-5 PM for Critter Camp, a day packed with crafts, learning, and plenty of animal adventures! Whether campers join us for one session or stay for the whole day, kids ages 7–12 will enjoy interactive games, animal-themed crafts, and hands-on opportunities to learn about our resident pets. And yes, snacks are included! 🐶

The fun doesn’t stop there! We’re also hosting an ALL-DAY Critter Camp on Wednesday, December 31st, from 9 AM-3 PM. Campers will dive into more games, creative crafts, and exciting animal encounters. It’s the perfect way to wrap up 2025 with kindness, curiosity, and critters 🐈 Campers should bring their own lunch for the full-day camp (snacks are still provided), wear closed-toed shoes, and dress in clothes that can get a little messy, because the best fun usually is! We can’t wait to spend the day learning, laughing, and exploring with your campers. Hope to see you there ❤️
