Dunkin is going to be so darn cute in the pleasure pen!

Ride number 12 today and first out in the pasture. He's just been the best baby horse. If you are looking for a late Christmas present he will be looking for his next person in the new year 👀

Just two minutes of picking a horse's feet while he's tied. This horse came to me not able to pick up his feet, showed some nervousness and tendencies to want to kick, and has had his feet roped in order to get him trimmed.

I've worked hard with him the last month to make handling his feet just another part of his day. What I really like in this video is that he is calm and mostly relaxed through the process. Being tied adds a level of difficulty to the ask and he handled it with ease. He's also not bothered by the hoof pick or the fact that the first hoof in particular took me awhile to pick. He didn't try and pull his foot away and stayed patient. His final hoof you can see a little bit of that nervousness creep back in but he was able to work through it and did not escalate into trying to kick at me. Huge progress for this horse and I eagerly await early January when his next trim is so we can see if all our work will help pass the test of a trim.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their horses or come and taken lessons. This business is my dream but I could not do it without all of you.

I am working hard to plan for 2026 and have several exciting changes coming including a lesson program with horsemanship levels! If you are looking for training I have spots available starting in February! LBF is full until then. Slowly but surely my little small program is growing and I could not be more grateful.

Spent a lot of time today working on the basics with the green beans.
Dunkin wore a bit for the second time today then spent some time practicing patients while watching me work Lucas. Lucas and I worked on picking up his feet, wearing a saddle pad, and just hanging out.

That all sounds really easy if you have a broke horse but someone had to teach all those little life skills at one point. If your horse needs a little life skills boot camp message me. I have openings starting in February 2026!

Hanging Haynets in your paddocks

Could not have planned the horse's arrival any better. Love his movie star moment.

Slowly but surely making improvements. 💪
I went out and bought another hay bonnet yesterday for the boys. While expensive I cannot tell you how many hours I save in pure man power just by owning one of these. Plus reducing the hay waste saves money too.

The best part in all of this means that the old hay ring got to move to a new pen and I decided that I would give Tucker an early Christmas. He's been wishing for his own haybale for years now. ❤️

Here's a sweet little Throwback Thursday for you all featuring Flicka. Flicka is an LBF c**t starting graduate who often attends local funshows, barrel races, and is currently employed as one of our trusted LBF lesson horses.

In the first photo she is only 18 or 19 months old. The second photo is today at 9-years-old. She certainly has grown up nice.

Just checking in to complain about the fact that it's going to feel like upper 20s tomorrow morning and the clocks are rolling back this weekend.

Anyone else a winter hater out there? It's already cold and it's not even actually winter yet 🥶

Being ready is a myth.
You start.
You suck. You figure it out.
You get better.

Working on this mindset for myself. I struggle with wanting things to be perfect and with horses nothing is perfect. Just get out and do your thing. Sometimes you do suck and that's okay.

Learning how to tie and then stand and be patient while tied is some of the most important foundational lessons you can do with a horse. Especially a young horse!

I have no idea if Dunkin here has ever been tied so I've taken a couple precautions.
1) I have him on a blocker tie ring in case he does panic or get himself in a pickle
2) I've taught him how to give to pressure both to come forward from the poll and on his nose backward and side to side.

Now unfortunately he is chewing on my trailer because being two is hard 🙄😂 But the more we practice the quicker he realizes this is a great opportunity for a nap!
