Welcome to ~Behind the Leash~ where you get an inside look in the life of our dog walkers and pet sitters. 😀🐶🐈
Today, we've got Darcy, who's been a member of the team for 4 years!
🐾What's the first thing you do to get ready for a busy day of dog walking?
Check the weather. You learn really quickly that the most important thing is to dress properly for the conditions and to be prepared for how they might change while you're out!
🐾What's something that happens during your walks that never fails to make you smile?
Something that will always make me smile is when a dog finds a stick on the ground and absolutely must pick it up and carry it around. It's so cute to play some impromptu tug of war or just watch them parade it around!!
🐾What's the funniest or most unexpected thing that's happened during a typical workday?
One of the most unexpected (but favorite) things that happens is finding a pet you didn't expect. Once when taking care of a dog, I found a whole room full of kittens! Or a little hamster in its cage!
🐾What's something people might be surprised to learn about a day in the life of a professional dog walker?
You might be surprised to learn that being a professional dog walker means being adaptable. Between properly getting into people’s homes, working with a client’s schedule, or being willing to have your schedule change up by the day or week. The one constant is that nothing is!
🐾What's your favorite part of your daily routine with your furry clients?
I love getting to go out for walks with the dogs, especially the ones who love to be on the go! It's fun to let the pup enjoy their time outside and to experience all the different parts of the area! For pets like cats, I love getting to play and bond with them, of course!
🐾What's something you never leave your house without before a busy day of dog walks?
I will never, ever leave my house without my water bottle. It is an absolute MUST HAVE at any point during the day!
🐾What is your favorite time of year to walk dogs?
I can't say I have a favorite! Every season offers something special. Winters can be freezing and summers can be brutal, but it is always worth it to get to be outside!
