This is great for all types of pups and my own pup will be there next week. Hope to see you join us! Be sure to like and follow Auntie Em's Dog Training
It’s that time of year again! Here are the first 5 pack walks 🥰
What are Pack Walks? ➡️ Our Pack Walks are hour-long walks where we focus on obedience, leash manners, and neutrality around stimulus like other dogs, people, bicycles, etc.
Will my dog meet new friends? ➡️ A huge thing to remember for our walks are NO on-leash greetings! We are practicing neutrality. And a great way to properly socialize your dog and teach them manners around other dogs is teaching them the impulse control to be neutral and ignore the other dogs. Remember, some dogs coming may be dog selective or aggressive, so don’t let your dog approach other dogs. If you have a friend bringing a dog that your dog already knows or plays with, feel free to say hi. But be respectful and mindful of other dogs around you!
What should I bring? ➡️
- your dog’s leash & harness or collar! Remember, no prong collars, shock collars, flexi leashes, or choke collars. If you need a recommendation for a harness or other pain-free walking device, ask Emily!
- Water for your puppy & a bowl
- Treats!
- P**p bags
- Sunscreen for yourself
- Dress for the weather!
Rain or Shine? ➡️ If the weather isn’t looking good for a walk, it will be TBD based on that. If it is above 95°, we won’t have the walk and you are welcome to come to the next walk instead, or we can reschedule it based on who is signed up. If it’s going to thunder/lightning, we will reschedule. If it will just lightly drizzle, we should be able to still have the walk!
Is my reactive dog welcome? ➡️ Absolutely! We have many reactive dogs attend, and Emily specializes in aggression & reactive behaviors. We will give your pup distance and help 1 on 1 if you are struggling. We ask other dogs not to stare, to avert their attention if they are staring/barking/making it more difficult for your pup. But the one true way to retrain reactive behaviors is to have positive experiences around other dogs and set the expectation of what you want your dog to do around others. So this is a great way to dip your toes in and have some practice with the reactivity piece.
Pricing? ➡️ It is $50/walk and $200 for all 5!
If you have another dog in the household, you can bring them for an additional $35 but they do have to have a separate handler! Payment is due at time of walk but you can prepay if you’d like.
