🚨 FOSTER BOY GLOW-UP ALERT! 🚨😍

Is this even the same dog?!

Our girls had the pleasure of giving this handsome foster pup a spa day yesterday, and we can’t get over the transformation. From adorable fluffy teddy bear to total heartthrob. ❤️

We love being able to help rescue and foster dogs look and feel their best while they wait for their next chapter.

A sibling of his, along with a few of his other siblings, are currently available for adoption through Rhode Home Rescue and Anchor Paws Rescue. We are also hoping to help find a foster home for another poodle in need. A secure fenced-in yard would be ideal, as these dogs aren’t 100% comfortable on leash yet.

I absolutely love my rescue family and am so grateful for organizations like these that continue to step up when there is such a huge need. Every foster home, adopter, volunteer, and donation helps save lives. ❤️🐾

Remember Captain? The little guy who came to us severely matted after spending a week at the shelter.

The shelter environment was very overwhelming for him, and he was absolutely terrified. Once he got out and settled in, though, we started to see the real Captain. ❤️

Now look at him—head out the window, enjoying the breeze, taking in the sights, and learning that life can be pretty great.

It’s amazing what a little time, patience, and love can do for a dog. Watching him come out of his shell has been so rewarding, and I can’t wait to see how much more he continues to blossom. 🐾

Meet Captain 💜

Captain was found in Pawtucket by a man who claimed he found him behind a Dunkin’ Donuts. He spent a short time at Pawtucket Animal Control, where staff said he was extremely shut down and scared, they actually did not even see him move from the corner ! Today, he was dropped off to us at our Cumberland shop, I decided to take him home as a Foster..He is now home with us relaxing, decompressing, and starting to settle in. (Video in comments of him being groomed and another of him enjoying life on the couch tonight)

So far, he is doing wonderful. We currently have him separated from the other dogs while he adjusts and learns he is safe. He definitely doesn’t seem to enjoy catching glimpses of them yet, so we will take introductions slow and see how he does over the next few days. My big boy Bodie is the sweetest softy and usually the perfect “test dummy,” so maybe once Captain feels more comfortable, we’ll see how they do together. 🐾

I know I’ve said this before, but this is truly some of the worst matting we have ever seen. The photos speak for themselves. Huge shoutout to my girl Yvonne for doing an amazing job getting him shaved down and comfortable today while I focused on helping him settle in.

Underneath all that neglect is a sweet little dog who clearly has been through a lot. We’re going to give him the time, patience, and love he deserves. Welcome home, Captain. 💜 Eventually once he settles in applications will be accepted for him through Rhode Home Rescue🐾

Update on Lucky! So many of you showed love and concern for his situation. I even got tons of private messages! I wanted to update everybody on what ended up happening.
A wellness check has been completed and Animal Control is now actively involved and following this situation closely. The owners have been cooperative, and they recently moved into a new apartment.. While we don't know the condition of the old  apartments where lucky was living for years with these people ...the new one appears to be a suitable environment for him.

They are now required to keep up with Lucky’s grooming and care, and Animal Control will be doing regular follow-ups to ensure this happens.  The officer made it very clear to the owners if his condition declines at all, he will be seized!

I want to be very clear — the condition Lucky was in did not happen overnight. It was severe, long-term matting that caused pain, restricted movement, and is completely preventable with proper care. This is not a matter of preference or appearance — this is basic responsibility when you own a dog.

While I’m relieved that steps are now being put in place, this situation should have never reached this point. Lucky deserved better.

Of course, part of me still wishes he could have come home with me, but what matters most right now is that he is safe, being monitored, and that his care is being taken seriously moving forward.

I will also be keeping a close eye on the situation alongside Animal Control, who has been incredibly helpful and diligent throughout all of this.

We had the sweetest newly rescued pups visit our Cumberland location today for a much-needed spa day. 💜🐾

Their previous owners moved out of their apartment and heartbreakingly left them behind outside in the cold with nothing but a bowl of food and water.

A kind woman adopted them so today, we volunteered our services and groomed them free of charge. They were covered in fleas and matting, but they were absolute angels.

I’m so grateful knowing these babies will be sleeping warm, clean, and comfortable tonight. 💜🐾

Rescue stories like this remind me why I love what I do.
