The Feline Grimace Scale was developed at the University of Montreal, and is a way for veterinarians to asses pain in cats. The scale has 5 "Action Units" or "AU": ear position, eyes, muzzle tension, whiskers, and head position. Always contact your veterinarian if you suspect your cat is in pain.

Slinky is an example of a cat doing great, with a relaxed face and whiskers!
