Hank recently visited a local ER after having a snack of grapes, which are very toxic to dogs! He had to have vomiting induced to get them out of his system, and then see us for a few visits for follow up lab work to ensure he was okay. Even small amounts can cause serious health issues, including sudden kidney failure.

Grape ingestion can lead to kidney failure, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and even death in some cases.
๐๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ ๐ญ๐จ๐ฑ๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐จ๐๐ฌ (these are just a few!):
1. ๐๐ก๐จ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ -- contains theobromine, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, and even death. Dark chocolate is especially dangerous!
2. ๐๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฌ & ๐๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ -- even small amounts can lead to kidney failure and toxicity, which can be life-threatening for dogs.
3. ๐๐ฒ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ฅ (found in sugar-free gum, candy, and baked goods) -- this artificial sweetener causes a rapid drop in blood sugar, leading to seizures, liver failure, and sometimes death.
4. ๐๐ง๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ & ๐๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐ข๐ -- Both onions and garlic can damage red blood cells, leading to anemia and other serious health issues.
5. ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฌ -- these nuts can cause vomiting, tremors, hyperthermia, and even paralysis in dogs.
6. ๐๐ฅ๐๐จ๐ก๐จ๐ฅ -- alcohol is extremely toxic to dogs and can cause vomiting, breathing difficulties, tremors, and even death.
7. ๐๐ฏ๐จ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฌ -- the pit and skin of avocados contain persin, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea in dogs.
8. ๐๐๐๐๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐ฌ -- caffeine is dangerous and can lead to hyperactivity, restlessness, rapid breathing, and even heart failure.
9. ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ฌ -- bones can splinter and cause choking or serious internal damage.
10. ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก & ๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ -- raw dough can expand in your dogโs stomach, causing pain, bloating, and potentially dangerous gas buildup.
