Happy ! When you choose to have your pet spayed/neutered, you help curb pet overpopulation and reduce the number of homeless pets.

Wondering whether you should get your pet spayed/neutered? We've listed below just a few of the many medical and behavioral benefits:

🐾 Spayed or neutered dogs and cats on average have a longer lifespan than intact animals.
🐾 Spay/neutering helps reduce the risks of uterine cancer, breast cancer (in females prior to their first heat cycle), and cancers of the reproductive tract.
🐾 Spay/neutering can help reduce unruly behavior in cats and dogs.

February is Spay & Neuter Awareness Month?

A spay is the surgical removal of a female’s reproductive organs so that she can no longer become pregnant. A neuter is the surgical removal of a male animal’s testicles so that he cannot impregnate a female. The surgeries are performed by a veterinarian while animals are under general anesthesia so that they do not feel pain. When someone says an animal is “fixed” or “altered” that means the animal has been spayed or neutered.

The simplest way to reduce nuisance and aggressive behaviors, improve long-term health and longevity, is to have your dog or cat spayed or neutered.

For more information or to make an appointment to have your pet spay/neutered, please call our front desk at (617) 226-5605.

Beauregard, who is both a BVC client and ARL alum, stopped by our office recently. We couldn’t believe how much this little guy has grown since he was adopted from ARL’s Brewster location in January 2022!
