This is a Phoenix update I never thought I would have to share this. Last night, Phoenix suffered a freak accident.
💔She tripped and fell very hard. It was a freak accident that caused a severe hip injury. 💔
We had been fighting alongside her, and she was doing so well. She was gaining weight, getting stronger, and we were looking forward to watching her continue to recover. After the accident, we called the emergency veterinarian. Sadly, because of the severity of her injury, the veterinarian recommended that the kindest thing we could do was let Phoenix go peacefully. Last night, we said goodbye to Phoenix. We desperately wish we could have had more time with her. Thank you to everyone who supported Phoenix and followed her journey. You helped her remember what it was like to be happy again. ❤️

Horse people know the little things matter. Phoenix walked all the way out to the round pin so she wouldn’t ti**le in her food place — a small but very horse-like example of good manners. This is the kind of everyday behavior we notice around here. Calm, patient care helps us see these little wins.

Phoenix is getting more energy, which is a good sign, but she was definitely ready for a shower too. Around here, progress sometimes looks like a bath, a brush, and a little patience while we help a horse feel more comfortable again. Slow progress is still progress, and this is what real rescue care looks like.

Our job is the horse.

We understand why people are angry when they see an animal arrive in poor condition. Right now, our focus is Phoenix: getting her proper nutrition, veterinary and dental care, and giving her the best chance at recovery.

We aren't here to organize attacks against previous owners or speculate about legal consequences. We're here to help horses.

Phoenix is safe. That's where our energy is going.
