Furgiven Animal Sanctuary (“FAS”) is a nonprofit, no-kill organization that is dedicated to creating second, second-chance opportunities for overlooked dogs. Our focus lies in partnering with public shelters to prevent the euthanasia of dogs and local no-kill shelters by transitioning their long-term, left-behind dogs to a sanctuary where they can be a priority regardless of age, breed, or ease of

placement. At FAS, we believe that providing a more intimate, individual atmosphere for dogs in these specific circumstances increases their chances of finding forever homes while promoting the animal-human bond within our community of the Greater Midsouth & Tri-State area. In addition to being a sanctuary for dogs overlooked, FAS assists (through scheduled events) with free or discounted veterinary services, low-cost spay/neuter clinics, and training support services for current or future pet owners and advocates. Our comprehensive adoption process and support services promote thoughtful, healthy relationships among animals and adopters and offer lifetime support to our residents. Animals in our care are spayed/neutered and receive all necessary treatments, vaccinations, and veterinary care for the duration of their time with us, regardless of adoption status.

REESE NEEDS AN MRI 🐾💖

We have raised $225/$4000 needed to get Reese her MRI. She is unable to walk without assistance and uses a wheelchair, so obtaining a diagnosis for us to move forward with via a neurologist is a key step in her care.

FEELING BETTER 💖

Thorn says thank you for all of the prayers and healing thoughts over the past 24 hours. He is continuing to show steady improvement and is looking much more bright eyed and wagging-tailed today. He has been started on antibiotics to combat any secondary infection from forming post-aspiration, and we are hopeful that he will continue to recover well!

Reese, Rollo, and Bud are all doing fantastic and acting as though they didn’t have surgery yesterday. Activities will be kept chill as they all recover. Thank you for your ongoing kind thoughts for smooth recoveries!

AN EVENTFUL DAY ❤️‍🩹

We had a very busy and eventful surgery today, with four of pups being altered. Thorn could use all of the thoughts and prayers overnight.

🐾 Reese cruised through both surgery and post op, happy clam.

✨ Rollo had an uneventful surgery and despite being a little bit slow to wake up, came around great thereafter.

💖 Bud had an eventful surgery, but perked up well during post op and has been doing great since.

🌱 Thorn had an eventful surgery and has an extremely hard time thereafter. Unfortunately he vomited and aspirated considerably during surgery, a complication and risk of his megaesophagus, despite all precautions being taken.

He is receiving around the clock care from our team overnight. His condition has showed improvement, and we are hopeful he will continue to trend upwards.

We will continue to update you on his recovery. If you would like to assist, donations towards Thorn’s care can be sent to “furgiven” via PayPal/Venmo/Cashapp.

BIG DAY!! ✨

Rollo was a stand-up gentleman this morning giving smiles and tail wags to everyone as he waited to be checked in. He is one of four Furgiven pups (along with Bud, Thorn and Reese) who are receiving their spay/neuter surgeries today.

If you would like to leave Rollo (or one of the other pups!) a comment, telling him he is extra cute/handsome/a good boy, we’ll read each of them out to him when he is back from surgery! 💖

Everyone please stop for a moment to help us wish Furgiven Co-Founder and Director, Lee, the happiest birthday! Lee is the heart and soul of operations at Furgiven. From the care of the animals, to the rescue’s mission and continued advocacy and growth, his passion for rescue, giving a voice to the ‘underdogs’ and desire to give back to the community are felt daily here at the sanctuary. He’s the best!

If you know Lee, you likely also know he happens to be exceptionally musically talented. He also knows far too well, the ongoing need for funding as a nonprofit 501c3 charity. Today Bartlett has been in care for a whole year! She came in with all her litter mates after they were found next to a dumpster at a in Memphis TN. All of her litter mates have been adopted and are in their furever homes but Bartlett is still waiting for hers.

This pup is so loving, so spunky, and SO ready to be welcomed into a family of her own! Send her some words of encouragement and share SHARE share so we can find her family!
